Patent number: 8024467Abstract: The present invention enables a game server to provide hosting services by connecting the game server device to a peer group, notifying at least one member of the peer group of the availability of the server device, and enabling the server device to accept and respond directly to searches for the hosting services, which are directed at the peer group by one or more gaming client devices. Discovery of peer group gaming content as well as updating such content are also provided by the present invention. The present invention further enables both peer group protocol supported and non-supported devices to interact with and provide the services provided by a peer group.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2007Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Brett Humphrey, Rod Toll, C. Publication number: 20090113519Abstract: Parental controls for entertainment digital media are provided that allow a parent to restrict multiple user's access to entertainment content. One or more updatable rating definition files with dynamic data are used to define rating levels and content descriptors for a regional rating system. Entertainment content definition files define the rating level and content descriptors for entertainment content. User permission settings define a particular user's access rating level and content descriptors. The rating definition file can be used to compare the entertainment content definition file and user permission settings in determining if a user is allowed access to particular entertainment content.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 22, 2008Publication date: April 30, 2009Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: C. Patent number: 7369117Abstract: A system for using computer input devices with software applications is disclosed. The system includes an input device mapper API, which uses a language of semantics as an interface between input devices and software applications. The input device mapper receives information about which semantics the devices connected to the computer are able to implement, and which semantics correspond to actions that a user can request the software to perform. The input device mapper maps controls on the available devices into user-requestable software actions by matching, as closely as possible, device controls and software actions that correspond to the same semantic. The system thus makes input devices and software applications transparent to each other, and permits a software application to be designed to operate without regard to which input device is being used to control its actions.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2005Date of Patent: May 6, 2008Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: C. Shane Evans, Marcus J. Andrews, Om K. Sharma, James E. Veres, John M. Thornton

Patent number: 6188875Abstract: A wireless telephone server system used for reproducing a wireless base station signal and introducing the reproduced signal in a new geographical area. The system reproduces or clones a full, high power operating cell site or cell unit of the same electromagnetic magnitude at a reduced cost. The wireless telephone system includes a parabolic collector operating in a frequency range of 140 Mhz to 2 Ghz and with a magnitude inner gain in a range of 14 to 21 dBw. A server antenna is connected to the parabolic collector using matching feedline jumpers to produce a resonant match. The server antenna is designed to provide a “under and over” null to the main lobe of the antenna at a minimum of 40 dBw. The system includes a plurality of duplexing devices with a bi-directional amplifier which allows 124 dBw of isolation between the parabolic collector and server antenna. Also, the system includes low-noise amplifiers that are adjustable from 1 to 12 dBw in system gain.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1998Date of Patent: February 13, 2001Assignee: R.F.
