  • Publication number: 20230329992
Abstract: A process for producing a bio-based surfactant comprising an alkyl disulphate salt comprises the steps of methanolysis of medium chain length polyhydroxyalkanoic acid (mcl-PHA) to provide hydroxy fatty acid methyl ester monomers (HFAME's), reduction of the HFAME's to provide 1,3 alkyl diols, sulphation of the 1,3 alkyl diols to provide 1,3 alkyl disulphates, and neutralisation of the alkyl disulphates to provide a bio-based surfactant comprising 1,3 alkyl disulphate salt. A bio-based surfactant comprising a mixture of medium chain length 1,3 alkyl disulphate salts is also described.

  • Patent number: 10927390
Abstract: A method for producing lactic acid comprises the steps of culturing in a culture medium comprising concentrated whey permeate or delactosed whey permeate as a substrate a bioconversion competent Bacillus bacterial strain capable of converting delactosed whey permeate into lactic acid for a period of time sufficient to allow the bacteria convert at least some of the lactose present in DLP or concentrated whey permeate into lactic acid, and then recovering the lactic acid from the culture medium.

  • Publication number: 20150087802
Abstract: A method for producing polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) comprises the steps of culturing in a culture medium comprising pyrolysis wax obtained from the pyrolysis of polyethylene and optionally a surfactant one or more bacterial strains which are capable of accumulating PHA from pyrolysis wax, and recovering the PHA from the culture medium. Typically, the bacterial strains are selected from the group consisting of: A. calcoaceticus BD413; A. calcoaceticus RR8; B. sepacia RR10; P. aeruginosa 3924; P. aeruginosa GL-1; P. aeruginosa PAO1; P. aeruginosa RR1; and P. olevorans.

  • Patent number: 8507230
Abstract: A method for producing polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), comprising (i) culturing in a culture medium comprising terephthalic acid and/or a salt thereof and/or an ester thereof one or more bacterial strains which are capable of accumulating PHA from terephthalic acid or a salt or ester thereof and which are selected from Pseudomonas putida strain GO16 having the accession number NCIMB 41538, Pseudomonas putida strain GO19 having the accession number NCIMB 41537, and Pseudomonas frederiksbergensis strain GO23 having the accession number NCIMB 41539; and (ii) recovering the PHA produced from the culture medium. The invention also provides Pseudomonas putida strain GO16 having the accession number NCIMB 41538; Pseudomonas putida strain GO19 having the accession number NCIMB 41537; and Pseudomonas frederiksbergensis strain GO23 having the accession number NCIMB 41539.
