  • Patent number: 12097862
Abstract: A system and method for controlling a merge vehicle travelling along a highway having a merge lane and a main lane. The method includes receiving merge data about the merge vehicle and a surrounding environment of the merge vehicle. The method includes detecting an intent to perform a merge maneuver by the merge vehicle from the merge lane to the main lane based on the merge data. Further, the method includes generating a graph having a plurality of nodes connected by edges. The plurality of nodes includes a start node set to a current position of the merge vehicle and a goal node located in the main lane after the merge lane has ended. The method includes calculating a three-dimensional (3D) trajectory based on the graph by optimizing edge costs from the start node to the goal node, and controlling the merge vehicle based on the 3D trajectory.

  • Patent number: 10457369
Abstract: The foot pedal-powered impeller system comprises a foot crank coupled to an impeller drive via a vertical drive shaft. The foot crank, mounted on the top surface of a water craft, may comprise two pedals that couple to a central spindle via crank arms. The spindle may pass through a right angle gear box which translates rotational motion of the spindle into rotational motion of the drive shaft. The drive shaft may turn a shaft gear on the underside of the water craft which engages an impeller tube gear and turns an impeller tube. An impeller mounted within the impeller tube may force water to enter the front of the impeller drive via an intake nozzle, pass through the impeller tube, and exit through a discharge nozzle. The discharge of water may move the water craft.

  • Patent number: 8521357
Abstract: An impaired operation detection method is basically performed by sensing a yaw rate of a vehicle over a time period. Then time points are identified in which the yaw rate changes direction. A linear rate of change in the yaw rate is determined between two of the time points that are sequential in time. An actual rate of change is examined between the two time points. A difference between the actual rate of change and the linear rate of change to obtain a difference value. Then, the operator's impairment condition is determined based on the difference value.
