Abstract: This invention relates to a low loss liquid processing system used for manufacturing personal care and cleaning compositions, in particular oral care compositions such as dentifrice, mouthrinse and denture care products. The present process addresses manufacturing flexibility issues involved in making products to demand and the ability to proactively monitor intermediate compositions for quality assurance purposes. Specifically, the present manufacturing process provides faster variant turnaround times, shorter clean-up times between variants, significant material waste reduction and smaller effluent volumes than those of typical batch systems. As well, a process has been developed for more efficient addition of materials which are dissimilar in chemical composition and/or physical parameters to the original base material or of materials which may be temperature and shear sensitive.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a dentifrice composition comprising: a) a polyphosphate salt in particulate form, the polyphosphate salt comprising a polyphosphate anion comprising at least 10 phosphate units; and b) an orally acceptable carrier; characterised in that the polyphosphate salt has a particle size distribution wherein less than 10% by volume of the salt has a particle size of greater than 160 ?m and less than 20% by volume of the salt has a particle size of less than 20 ?m. The dentifrice composition has good stability and acceptable mouth feel. The invention further relates to orally acceptable polyphosphate salts for use in such compositions.

Abstract: The present invention is an orally administered liquid pharmaceutical composition that demonstrates excellent physical stability while delivering concentrated levels of the pharmaceutical active(s). Specifically, these compositions for extended periods do not allow the active to precipitate or settle out of solution. Among the advantages of this invention is that the compositions do not require agitation/shaking prior to use as a method to re-suspend or dissolve active drug material to insure even and consistent dosing.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods of preventing and treating Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) by the administration of respiratory tract compositions having low pH values. The respiratory tract compositions have a pH of from about 3.0 to about 5.5, and are preferably administered to areas of the respiratory tract such as the nasal cavity to effectively prevent and treat respiratory tract viral infections, particularly SARS. The respiratory tract compositions comprise an organic acid in combination with a metal compound.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to respiratory tract compositions, particularly nasal compositions, that are highly effective in the prevention and treatment of cold and influenza-like symptoms due to respiratory tract viral infections. These compositions comprise chelated and unchelated zinc ions, wherein the quantity of chelated zinc ions is at least about 50.1%.
