In various embodiments, the shovel body comprises a plurality of ground engaging edges, such as a scrapper and plow, which can be positioned for ground engagement by rotating the target edge of shovel body into position around the distal end of the handle. The shovel also comprises a hinge and locking mechanism in some embodiments. The components are all of sufficient rigidity and durability to withstand compressive and tensile forces imposed on the shovel.
