  • Patent number: 10810995
Abstract: The disclosed system continuously refines a model used by an Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system to enable fast and accurate transcriptions of detected speech activity. The ASR system analyzes speech activity to generate text transcriptions and associated metrics (such as minimum Bayes risk and/or perplexity) that correspond to the quality of or confidence in each generated transcription. The system employs a filtering process to select certain text transcriptions based in part on one or more associated quality metrics. In addition, the system corrects for known systemic errors within the ASR system and provides a mechanism for manual review and correction of transcriptions. The system selects a subset of transcriptions based on factors including confidence score, and uses the selected subset of transcriptions to re-train the ASR model. By continuously retraining the ASR model, the system is able to provide ever faster and more accurate text transcriptions of detected speech activity.

  • Patent number: 10230851
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring telephone calls to detect call traffic pumping activity and take corrective action is described. The system receives a group of training telephone calls having associated call audio content and associated information, and the system analyzes the training telephone calls to generate and store a classification model that correlates call features and associations with a probability of call traffic pumping activity. The system receives a subsequent monitored telephone call to be analyzed. The system analyzes the monitored telephone call to identify features present in the audio content of the monitored telephone call and other associated information. The system then compares the features and associated information to the stored classification model in order to determine a probability that the monitored telephone call is associated with call traffic pumping activity.

  • Publication number: 20170149984

  • Patent number: 8780479
Abstract: A disk drive is disclosed comprising a disk comprising a plurality of tracks, a head attached to a distal end of an actuator arm, and a voice coil motor (VCM) operable to rotate the actuator arm about a pivot bearing including a race and a plurality of ball bearings. The VCM is controlled to execute a first jerk seek in a first radial direction so that the ball bearings slip within the race by a first rotation angle. The VCM is controlled to execute a second jerk seek in the first radial direction so that the ball bearings slip within the race by a second rotation angle, wherein the second rotation angle adds to the first rotation angle in order to rotate the ball bearings relative to the race at a reference angle of the pivot bearing.

  • Patent number: 6483215
Abstract: A method and apparatus for rotatably interconnecting computer storage disks to a stationary base is provided. The apparatus provides a hybrid bearing assembly having an oil-filled thrust bearing and an air-filled radial bearing. In particular, the apparatus provides a hybrid bearing having an oil-filled thrust bearing that is highly resistant to leakage. In addition, the apparatus provides a hybrid bearing having a radial air bearing with a very large diameter to provide great stiffness in a radial direction using common manufacturing tolerances. The method of the present invention includes rotatably interconnecting a hub for suspending computer storage media to a base or enclosure using an oil-filled thrust bearing and an air-filled radial bearing. The method further includes balancing the pressures in both directions along the axis of the thrust bearing to prevent leakage of the oil from the bearing. The method also includes providing an air bearing having a very large diameter.

  • Patent number: 6362932
Abstract: A disk drive spindle air bearing includes an air bearing gap between a pair of air bearing surfaces that varies as a function of radial distance from an axis of rotation. This non-uniform air bearing gap effectively minimizes contact between the air bearing surfaces of the bearing when the disk drive hub is at rest or spinning below a threshold speed. This reduced contact significantly reduces the stiction forces that must be overcome during disk drive spin up operations and also reduces the generation of wear particles within the bearing. Air bearing surface shaping techniques are provided for achieving the non-uniform gap dimension, including techniques involving crowned, stepped, and sloped surfaces. In an alternative approach, sacrificial plating is employed to achieve a non-uniform gap dimension within the air bearing.
