  • Publication number: 20190223089
Abstract: In one embodiment, a device receives data regarding a wireless client attempting to form an association with a particular wireless access point in a network. The device queries a blockchain ledger in a blockchain database for wireless roaming data regarding the wireless client. The device uses, when available from the blockchain ledger, the roaming data regarding the wireless client to complete the association between the wireless client and the particular wireless access point. The device updates the blockchain ledger with data regarding the association between the wireless client and the particular wireless access point.

  • Patent number: 9258135
Abstract: A network device determines whether the network device has a local link for a link aggregation group (LAG), and identifies, when the network device has a local link for the LAG, the network device as a designated forwarder for the LAG. The network device also identifies, when the network device does not have a local link for the LAG, a closest network device to the network device, with a local link for the LAG, as the designated forwarder for the LAG.

  • Patent number: 8879393
Abstract: A network device implements automatic configuration of Quality of Service (QoS) parameters in response to operator specification of a relatively few and easily understandable “high level” parameters such as, for example, latency requirements or an acceptable rate of packet drops. In one implementation, a network device may receive user preference information that relates to a Quality of Service (QoS) for network traffic passing through the network device and may measure traffic patterns through the network device. The device further generates a configuration template based on the measured traffic patterns and on the user preference information transmit the data in an order of transmission that is prioritized according to a bandwidth allocation policy defined by the configuration template.

  • Patent number: 8797897
Abstract: In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a first switch having an egress port configured to be coupled to a second switch to collectively to define a single logical entity having a set of virtual identifiers. A first set of virtual identifiers from the set of virtual identifiers is associated with the first switch, a second set of virtual identifiers from the set of virtual identifiers is associated with the second switch. The first switch is configured to receive a forwarding table associating a first set of destination addresses with a set of identifiers local to the first switch and associating a second set of destination addresses with a set of identifiers local to the second switch. Each identifier from the first set of identifiers is uniquely associated the first set of virtual identifiers. Each identifier from the set of identifiers is uniquely associated the second set of virtual identifiers.

  • Patent number: 8144592
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for improving the configuration, management, and distribution of quality of service information in a fibre channel fabric using zoning mechanisms. Configuration of Quality of Service (QoS) information is made easy by using zones as a classifier for flows. QoS information is included in zone objects, thereby using the existing zone distribution mechanism to distribute QoS information. Devices not part of any zones are placed automatically in the default zone with a default QoS priority level. QoS information for a particular packet is available as soon as the zoning information is obtained.
