    Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for implementing a power saving technique using a proximity sensor to control a state of a display is described. The method includes the step of monitoring a proximity sensor to determine whether a target object is within range of a device. If the target object is within range of the device, then the steps include deactivating a display of the device, or, if the target object is out of range of the device, then the steps include activating the display of the device.
