Abstract: The invention is a filter assembly which covers a disk drive slot to prevent the intrusion of dust and other particles into the slot. The assembly includes a filter-carrying frame which is pivotally mounted to a computer housing. When mounted to a computer housing, the frame is pivotable between an open position, wherein the frame extends outwardly to allow entry of a disk into an exposed disk drive slot, and an operative position, wherein the frame abuts the housing so that the filter of the frame prevents intrusion of dust and other particulate matter into a disk drive slot. In a preferred embodiment, the frame is formed from a pair of opposing flat members which hold the filter therebetween and which are separable to allow easy filter replacement.
