  • Patent number: 8782566
Abstract: Techniques and configurations for an apparatus are provided for creating and managing meetings using gestures. Movements of a user's hand in a three-dimensional space are detected. The hand movements in the three-dimensional space are interpreted to identify a gesture intended by the user to set up or manage a meeting among a plurality of persons. An electronic command is generated from the detected gesture to set up or manage the meeting.

  • Patent number: 8639316
Abstract: A medical device performs a method for determining a cardiac event by obtaining a signal comprising cardiac cycle length information in a patient and determining cardiac cycle lengths during an established time interval. Noise is detected during the time interval and a cardiac cycle length corresponding to a time of the detected noise is rejected. Cycle length differences are determined from the cycle lengths not rejected during the time interval. The cardiac event is determined in response to the cycle length differences.

  • Patent number: 8630610
Abstract: Techniques are provided for using a location of a caller placing a call that is received at a call center to identify other sources of information that are relevant to the call. A call is received at a call center from a caller. The location of the caller is obtained from the received call, and other sources of information potentially relevant to the call are identified based on the location of the caller. For example, information is stored that identifies at lease one individual that is proximate to the location of the caller, and communication is initiated with at least one individual who is determined to be located proximate to the caller.

  • Patent number: 8600750
Abstract: In an example embodiment, there is disclosed herein an automatic speech recognition (ASR) system that employs speaker clustering (or speaker type) for transcribing audio. A large corpus of audio with corresponding transcripts is analyzed to determine a plurality of speaker types (e.g., dialects). The ASR system is trained for each speaker type. Upon encountering a new user, the ASR system attempts to map the user to a speaker type. After the new user is mapped to a speaker type, the ASR employs the speaker type for transcribing audio from the new user.

  • Patent number: 8553067
Abstract: Techniques are provided for receiving multimedia from a plurality of endpoints participating in a conference session, including multimedia from an endpoint that was muted during the conference session. A muting state is detected at a particular endpoint during the conference session and the multimedia from the particular endpoint is recorded even though it is not forwarded and rendered to the other endpoints during the conference session. Information associated with the multimedia data for the conference session is stored to indicate the time period during which the muting state was detected at the particular endpoint. Techniques are also provided for granting access at a later time to the stored multimedia data for conference session, including access controls to the muted multimedia.

  • Patent number: 8526336
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for conducting a conference session among a group of participants includes a server for establishing communication channels over a network connected with endpoint devices of the participants. The server operates to allocate initial resources on the network to conduct the conference session, the initial resources including the communication channels and at least one conferencing bridge. Code running on the server selects one or more different resources currently available during the conference session. The one or more different resources is selected to optimize a quality of service (QoS) criteria. Execution of the code causes the server to move the conference session to the one or more different resources responsive to a triggering event. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.
