    Abstract: A bottom-lighting type backlight module includes a frame, a light guide member and a plurality of linear light sources. The frame includes a base and a plurality of sidewalls extending from the periphery of the base to define an opening. The light guide member is disposed on the opening of the frame, the light guide member having a prism surface away from the base of the frame. The light sources are arranged in the frame under the light guide member. The base of the frame defines a plurality of projections extending out from thereof towards the opening along a direction perpendicular to the light sources, and a plurality of curving surfaces are defined by the base of the frame between two adjacent projections, each curving surface facing the adjacent light source. The present backlight module may have good optical uniformity and high brightness without the help of light diffusion plate.

    Abstract: A frame includes a main frame and a receiving frame. The main frame includes a base and several circumferential sidewalls extending from the base. At least two opposite stepped elements are defined at the top of two opposite sidewalls. Each stepped element includes a tread portion extending from the sidewall toward an inner of the main frame, a riser portion extending from the end of the tread portion toward the opening. The receiving frame includes a frame body, a rim portion extending from a bottom of the frame body toward an inner of the frame body, and at least two grooves defined in the rim portion corresponding to the two stepped elements. Each groove of the receiving frame may be inserted into the corresponding stepped element. A backlight system using the frame is also provided, which has a narrow-framed, space-saving design, and also can be assembled easily.

    Abstract: A spacer includes a base, at least a supporting column, and at least a clamp. The base includes at least a bridge-shaped portion and at least a flat portion. The bridge-shaped portion includes a bridge top surface, and two curving sidewalls respectively extend from two ends of the bridge top surface and connect with the flat portion. The supporting column is disposed on the bridge top surface of the base. The clamp is disposed on the flat portion of the base. A backlight module using the same spacers is also provided. The backlight module has a reflective plate having a plurality of projections parallel to linear light sources. The spacers are coupled to the projections and support a diffusing plate. Curving sidewalls of the spacers and the adjacent curving surface of the projections facing the corresponding light sources would give the present spacer and backlight module have good optical uniformity.

    Abstract: An exemplary backlight module (100) includes a diffusion sheet (110), a plurality of light sources (120), a plurality of supporting posts (130), a plurality of fasteners (140), and a reflective plate (150). The supporting posts are disposed generally between the reflective plate and the diffusion sheet to form a gap with a predetermined distance between the reflective plate and the diffusion sheet. The fasteners are engaged with the reflective plate and hold the light sources to mount the light sources in the gap above the reflective plate. The reflective plate comprises a plurality of elongate bumps (151), and the bumps face toward the diffusion sheet. Each bump is located midway between two adjacent light sources for concentrating and guiding reflected light beams toward a corresponding area of the diffusion sheet above the bump.

The bumps face toward the diffusion sheet, and each of the bumps is located generally midway between two corresponding adjacent of the light sources. Each bump is located midway between two adjacent light sources for concentrating and guiding reflected light beams toward a corresponding area of the diffusion sheet above the bump. Accordingly, a light intensity distribution in the area of the diffusion sheet above the bump is closer to the same as a light intensity distribution in each of areas of the diffusion sheet above the two adjacent light sources.

    Abstract: A backlight assembly (200) for liquid crystal display includes a plurality of lamps (201), a printed circuit board (203), and a plurality of inverters (202). The lamps are substantially parallel to each other, and each lamp includes two ends. Each end includes an electrode (211). The printed circuit board is disposed at a side of the backlight assembly at corresponding ends of the lamps, for electrically connecting with some or all of the electrodes. The inverter is fixed on the printed circuit board and cooperating with the printed circuit board to provide voltage to drive the lamps. With this configuration, the printed circuit boards and the inverters are arranged at a side of the lamps. Then, the thickness of the backlight assembly is effectively reduced. Therefore, an LCD that employs the backlight assembly can be corresponding thin.
