  • Publication number: 20240405726
Abstract: Power amplifiers with supply capacitor switching are provided herein. In certain configurations, a mobile device includes a power management circuit that controls a voltage level of a supply voltage, and a front end system including a power amplifier that amplifies a radio frequency signal and that receives power from the supply voltage. The front end system further includes a supply capacitor having a first end electrically connected to the supply voltage, and a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) switch including a plurality of SOI field-effect transistors (FETs) electrically connected in series between a second end of the supply capacitor and a ground voltage. The SOI switch has an off state in which a first portion of the plurality of SOI FETs are controlled with the ground voltage and a second portion of the plurality of SOI FETs are controlled with a negative voltage less than the ground voltage.

  • Patent number: 12095422
Abstract: Power amplifiers with supply capacitor switching are provided herein. In certain configurations, a power amplifier system includes a power amplifier that provides amplification to a radio frequency (RF) signal, a power management circuit that controls a voltage level of a supply voltage of the power amplifier, a supply capacitor, and a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) switch in series with the supply capacitor between the supply voltage and the a reference voltage, such as ground. The power management circuit is operable in multiple supply control modes including, for example, an average power tracking (APT) mode and an envelope tracking (ET) mode. Additionally, the SOI switch is controlled based on the supply control mode of the power management circuit.

  • Publication number: 20240186963
Abstract: In accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure, a radio frequency front end system is provided. The radio frequency front end system comprises an RF path configured to propagate an RF signal between ports of the RF path, an RF coupler configured to extract a portion of a power of the RF signal propagating between the ports of the RF path, and a first RF coupler circuit. The first RF coupler circuit is coupled to the RF coupler and includes a first isolator configured to isolate at least one of a switching transient impedance and a charge spur from the RF path.

  • Publication number: 20230020586
Abstract: In some embodiments, a front-end system can include a switch network that includes an antenna node, a first signal node connectable to a first filter-based assembly for a first band, a second signal node connectable to a second filter-based assembly for a second band, and a third signal node connectable to a third filter-based assembly for a third band. The switch network can be configured to support carrier aggregation of at least the first and second bands. The front-end system can further include a reconfigurable routing circuit configured to allow carrier aggregation of the third band and a selected one of the first and second bands utilizing the third filter-based assembly and the filter-based assembly associated with the selected one of the first and second bands.

  • Patent number: 8643433
Abstract: Embodiments of a two-stage bypass power amplifier are provided. In general, the two-stage bypass power amplifier is configured to receive a RF signal that is to be transmitted to a remote device and provide gain to the RF signal prior to the RF signal being transmitted to the remote device. The two-stage bypass power amplifier is configured to operate efficiently (in terms of power) at two different gain or output power levels and can be extended to operate efficiently at additional gain or output power levels.
