  • Publication number: 20160365912
Abstract: Decoding failure and throughput loss are reduced when a user equipment (UE) tunes away from a first radio access technology (RAT) to a second radio access technology. In one instance, the UE determines when one or more receive chains will tune away from a first subscriber identity module (SIM) to another SIM. The UE reports a channel state based on measurements obtained without the one or more receive chains during the determined tune away and/or during a predetermined time period before the determined tune away. The UE also reports the channel state based on measurements obtained with the one or more receive chains after the one or more receive chains return from the determined tune away.

  • Publication number: 20160360457
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) periodically suspends communications on a first radio access technology (RAT) to redirect another communication or initiate the other communication on a second RAT. In one instance, the UE suspends an application running on the first RAT before switching to the second RAT. Prior to returning from the second RAT to the first RAT, the UE ranks frequencies of the first RAT in an acquisition history based on a type of a suspended application in the first RAT, and characteristics of each frequency in the acquisition history. The UE then search one or more frequencies in the acquisition history in accordance with the ranking.

  • Publication number: 20160337928
Abstract: A method of wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes initiating a procedure for a circuit switched fall back (CSFB) service in response to a mobile originated voice call or a mobile terminated voice call in a radio access technology (RAT) not supporting circuit switched voice calls. The method further includes determining whether a time to trigger (TTT) timer has expired for a measurement report configured to trigger a handover to a target cell. The method also includes determining whether the target cell is of a RAT supporting circuit-switched voice calls. If so, sending of the measurement report is delayed, i.e., when the RAT of the target cell does not support circuit-switched voice calls.

  • Publication number: 20160330653
Abstract: A multi-subscriber identity module (SIM) user equipment (UE) reduces call interruptions caused by tuning away. In one instance, the user equipment determines whether to abort a tune away procedure to a second subscriber identity module at the user equipment. The determination is based on a type of procedure running on a first subscriber identity module at the user equipment and/or a characteristic of an intended tune away to the second subscriber identity module.

  • Publication number: 20160234708
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) reduces latency during a redirection procedure, such as a circuit-switched fallback (CSFB) procedure. In one instance, the UE searches and measures each frequency of a received redirection list of frequencies to determine a strongest frequency. The UE decodes a system information block (SIB) from one or more non-strongest frequencies. The UE then determines whether to wait for a system information block from the strongest frequency based on a metric. The UE determines which of the one or more non-strongest frequencies are selected based on the metric when deciding not to wait for the system information block from the strongest frequency.

  • Publication number: 20150264603
Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method of wireless communication is provided. The method may include starting a first timer for changing to a first network cell with a first radio access technology (RAT) and starting a second timer for changing to a second network cell with a second RAT. Further, the method may include changing to the first network cell when the first timer expires. The method may also include determining that the second network cell satisfies a cell change condition and continuing to run the second timer after the change to the first network cell in response to the second network cell satisfying the cell change condition. The method may further include changing to the second network cell after starting a third timer for a third network cell with the first RAT, a duration of the second timer being longer than a duration of the third timer.

  • Publication number: 20150249940
Abstract: Aspects of the methods and apparatus relate to performing call recovery after a call drop. A cell selection update procedure may be initiated to recover a call in response to the call being dropped with a serving cell. Link conditions may be determined for the serving cell and for different candidate cells. The aspects of the methods and apparatus also include selecting a cell, based on the link conditions, from among the serving cell and a candidate cell with a highest signal power parameter in a Primary Common Control Physical Channel (PCCPCH) across a set of neighboring frequencies of the different candidate cells. Call recovery may be performed using the selected cell. In some aspects, the highest signal power parameter may be a highest Received Signal Code Power (RSCP).

  • Patent number: 8879508
Abstract: An apparatus and method for facilitating inter-technology handoff from a home wireless network comprising comparing a parameter of a home signal to a threshold, wherein the home signal is from the home wireless network where the data session of a persistent always ON application is established; throttling the persistent always ON application; and attempting to acquire a first alternative signal acceptable to the persistent always ON application from a first alternative wireless network using a single RF chain.

  • Publication number: 20130336293
Abstract: A method to improve the sending of scheduling information, particularly for Time Division-High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (TD-HSUPA) operation is described. When T-WAIT is configured at a large value which is above a threshold, and when the UE transitions from having a grant to not having a grant, and the TEBS is larger than zero, if the UE does not receive a grant within a time window, the UE may send scheduling information via the E-RUCCH without waiting for the T-WAIT timer to expire.
