    Abstract: Mitigating drilling circulation loss can be implemented as a wellbore drilling system that includes a drilling liner and a drill head assembly. The drilling liner is configured to be positioned in a lost circulation zone of a subterranean formation in which a wellbore is being drilled. The drilling liner is configured to flow wellbore drilling fluids from a surface of the wellbore to the subterranean formation while avoiding the lost circulation zone. The drill head assembly is attached to a downhole end of the drilling liner, and is configured to drill the subterranean formation to form cuttings, receive the wellbore drilling fluids, and flow the cuttings and the wellbore drilling fluids into the drilling liner while avoiding the lost circulation zone and towards the surface of the wellbore.

The cutting grinder tool can be attached to a drill string uphole relative to a drill bit attached to a downhole end of the drill string. The cutting grinder tool can receive and pulverize formation cuttings resulting from drilling a formation using the drill bit. The isolation tool can be attached to the drill string uphole relative to the cutting grinder tool. The isolation tool can control flow of the pulverized formation cuttings mixed with a drilling mud uphole through the drill string.

    Abstract: A method and system for remediating a lost circulation zone in a wellbore. A flexible liner is deployed adjacent the lost circulation zone that blocks fluid communication between the wellbore and surrounding formation. The liner material has a designated yield and tensile strength, so that in response to pressure applied in the wellbore the liner flexes and conforms to contours in the wellbore. The liner remains intact during deformation to maintain the flow barrier between the wellbore and formation. The liner is set in the wellbore with a bottom hole assembly that includes an outer housing for protecting the liner during the trip downhole. Drill pipe can be used for deploying the bottom hole assembly, and for conveying pressurized fluid for setting the liner. An expander is included with the bottom hole assembly for mechanically conforming the liner to the wellbore sidewalls.

A packer assembly seals an annulus between the middle sleeve and an inner diameter of the slim-hole when the assembly is in a setting position.

The under reamer is downhole of the high-loss circulation zone. The under reamer, in response to actuation, is configured to widen a diameter of the high-loss circulation zone. An expansion assembly is connected to the under reamer. The expansion assembly surrounds the drill string upstring of the under reamer. The expansion assembly is configured to cover the high-loss circulation zone after the diameter of the high-loss circulation zone is widened by the under reamer.

    Abstract: A system for cementing a tubular in a wellbore that includes a sleeve made up of an annular housing with a cement seal on outer surface of the housing. The sleeve further includes a sliding block, a stationary block, an arm attached to the sliding block, and a passage formed through a sidewall of the housing, and that receives a free end of the arm. When the sleeve inner bore is pressurized, the arm moves to move the sliding block into an open space in the stationary block. Inserting the sliding block into the open space forms a seal on the outer periphery of the sleeve which forms a barrier to cement flowing in an annulus between the sleeve and inner surface of the wellbore. Lost circulation material can be deposited in the annulus and which settles along an interface between the seal and wellbore wall.

    Abstract: A lateral wellbore is formed from a high side of a horizontal portion of a primary wellbore with a drill bit assembly that has a selectively extendable pilot bit. The drill bit assembly is mounted on a lower end of a drill string. A bit guide is disposed adjacent the drill bit assembly for urging the drill bit assembly in a lateral direction against the high side of the primary wellbore. Rotating the drill bit assembly while urging the drill bit assembly upward creates a groove in a subterranean formation adjacent the primary wellbore. This forms a ledge at a far end of the groove. The drill string is then drawn back from the groove, and the pilot bit is deployed. Urging the drill bit assembly forward engages the pilot bit with the ledge, providing leverage for retaining the drill bit assembly in an orientation for excavating the lateral wellbore.
