  • Publication number: 20090307211
Abstract: A method for incremental crawling of content stored on a plurality of content providers using aggregation is provided. The method comprises receiving a request to crawl content on one or more associated content providers; retrieving one or more first references to content on a first content provider; retrieving one or more second references to content on one or more second content providers during the same request; aggregating the first and second references; and returning the aggregated first and second references. This is done while taking into consideration opaque timestamp object which is managed in a distributed manner. The opaque timestamp is filled in by the content providers but stored in the crawler side between crawling sessions.

  • Publication number: 20090295905
Abstract: Systems and methods for conducting a multi-endpoint video signal conference are provided. Conferencing endpoints are linked by pairs of a reliable and a less reliable communication channel. Conference video signals are scaleable coded in base layer and enhancement layers format. Video signal base layers, which correspond to a minimum picture quality, are communicated over reliable channels. The video signal enhancements layers may be communicated over the less reliable channels. A conference server mediates the switching of video layer information from transmitting endpoints to receiving endpoints without any intermediate coding or re-coding operations. The video conference can be integrated with an audio conference using either scalable coded audio signals or non-scaleable coded audio signals.

  • Publication number: 20090299063
Abstract: Provided herein are compounds and methods of using compounds that selectively inhibit binding to one or more docking domain regions of an extracellular signal-recognition kinase to inhibit in a cell having an extracellular signal-regulated kinase activity. Such methods may be used to inhibit cell proliferation of a neoplastic cell, to treat a cancer and further may be used in conjunction with administration of an anticancer drug at a reduced dosage to treat a cancer with a concomitant reduction in toxicity to an individual receiving the treatment. Also provided is a method to design and screen for compounds to inhibit binding within the extracellular signal-regulated kinase docking domain region, using at least in part computer-aided drug design modeling.

  • Patent number: 7627021
Abstract: A receiver that provides interference cancellation in conjunction with RAKE processing. Signal parameters corresponding to each of a plurality of fingers corresponding to RAKE processing are maintained. Synthesized pilot signals are estimated using the signal parameters by interpolating waveforms for respective ones of the plurality of synthesized pilot signals to a common sampling lattice of the received set of data, and are then cancelled out. According to another aspect, a receiver ensures completion of a time-critical process such as signal demodulation and adaptively applies a non-time-critical process such as interference cancellation to the extent that computational resources become available subject to ensuring the completion of the time-critical process.

  • Publication number: 20090290162
Abstract: Phase-conjugate optical coherence tomography (PC-OCT) methods and apparatus. PC-OCT may be employed as a three-dimensional imaging technique of interest for biomedical and other imaging applications. It shares much of the source and detection convenience of conventional OCT employing classical light sources, which is in clinical use in ophthalmology and is being developed for a variety of endoscopic optical biopsy instruments. PC-OCT offers a two-fold improvement in axial resolution and immunity to group velocity dispersion, when compared with conventional OCT, that is available from quantum optical coherence tomography (Q-OCT). PC-OCT does this without Q-OCT's need for a non-classical light source and the attendant requirement of photon-coincidence counting detection. Thus, in comparison with Q-OCT, PC-OCT is capable of producing images in measurement times similar to those of conventional OCT.

  • Patent number: 7617695
Abstract: A refrigeration system including a refrigeration circuit and a controller. The refrigeration circuit includes a plurality of variable capacity compressors arranged in parallel to compress a refrigerant. A second variable capacity compressor is started after a first variable capacity compressor. An evaporator defines a load while evaporating the refrigerant to refrigerate a space within a predetermined temperature range. The controller is programmed to control the operation of the plurality of variable capacity compressors to match the capacity of the plurality of variable capacity compressors to the load by increasing the capacity of the last compressor in the queue of running compressors when the capacity of the plurality of variable capacity compressors is lower than the load and by decreasing the capacity of the first compressor in the queue when the capacity of the plurality of variable capacity compressors is higher than the load.
