  • Patent number: 10708275
Abstract: Notebook applications may be employed to create, edit, and/or share collaborative documents. In a classroom setting, a notebook application may enable interactivity among a teacher and students. A page lock may be provided for the notebook application to prevent students from making unauthorized changes, such as editing a page after an assignment deadline or erasing teacher feedback, while still enabling the teacher read and write capabilities. For example, a notebook page may be rendered with read and write permissions for the teacher and student(s). The teacher may be provided an option to set a lock on the page to disable one or more of the students' write permissions. The teacher may select a first timing parameter associated with setting the lock, which defines a future date and time or event to trigger the disabling of the students' write permissions. The lock may be set based on the first timing parameter.

  • Patent number: 8577959
Abstract: Concepts and technologies are described herein for managing recurring appointments without losing historical data associated with the recurring appointments. In accordance with the concepts and technologies disclosed herein, a recurring appointment definition can be modified without deleting the recurring appointment definition and/or losing exceptions, notes, and/or other data associated with the recurring appointment definition. Additionally, the concepts and technologies disclosed herein allow the modification of an existing recurring appointment definition without creating a new recurring appointment definition. Thus, synchronization between rules-based calendaring applications and expansion-based calendaring applications can be accomplished without creating multiple instances of related recurring appointments created due to modifications of the recurring appointment definition.

  • Publication number: 20080076395
Abstract: A system and related method for supporting non-intrusive and effective voice communication among mobile users in which voice calls between mobile users are managed based on callee availability, caller-callee relationships, and non-intrusive information exchange, including interactive exchange at the time of call setup but prior to the call being answered. Callee availability can be based on callee device status, calendar activities, location, past behavior and other factors. The caller-callee relationships specify whether the callee is available, unavailable or on restricted availability relative to the caller. The interactive exchange can be implemented using voice and/or text/graphic displays on caller and callee mobile device. Callees are provided with options for handling the call. Callers are provided with information regarding the callee's current and future availability and willingness to receive a voice call from the caller, thus maximizing the chance of caller reaching the callee on every voice call.
