  • Patent number: 4682835
Abstract: An insulation displacing terminal has opposed cantilever spring contact members having two portions, lower and upper. The lower portions have their outer edges inclined upward and inward to give a first tapered portion. The upper portions have the outer edges inclined upward and outward to give second tapered portions. The upper and lower portions join at a neck or narrow section. The upper portions are of reduced thickness relative to the lower portions, the reduced thickness starting just above the neck section.

  • Patent number: 4652071
Abstract: A connector, for use for connection of local conductors to a distribution cable, in telephone systems, has an elongate body in which are a plurality of recesses. Insulation displacing terminals are positioned in the recesses, the lower part of each terminal connecting to a cable conductor. Connector members are pushed into the recesses by a trapped screw in each connector member. Local conductors are inserted into transverse passages or bores and as a connector member is pushed down, the top ends of the terminals pass up into the connector member and make contact with the conducitve cores of the conductors.

  • Patent number: 4589720
Abstract: A planar electronic filter has at least two dielectric plates with a ground plate between them and a plurality of parallel spaced electrodes on the outer surface of each plate. A contact area on at least one end surface connects with the ground plate. Usually contact pins are mounted, as by soldering, on the electrodes, a pin on each electrode, with the ends of the pins extending beyond the sides of the plates. The pin ends may be of male or female form, or can be formed for solder or wire wrapping attachment of conductors. The filter is generally mounted in a housing and it can be arranged that contact pins are not mounted on the electrodes but contact members in the housing make direct contact with the electrodes. A connector embodying the filter can comprise one or two housings. One housing can insert into the other and make contact with the filter.

  • Patent number: 4530553
Abstract: A connector has socket-type terminals, each terminal having a main body part from the front end of which two arms project, as cantilevers. The inner part of each arm is curved, generally arcuate, and the outer part of each arm extends generally straight and inclined away from each other. A contact position is formed at the junction between the inner and outer part. Such terminals are housed in slots in a plug and a receptacle has pins which are inserted into the terminals. Cam surfaces on the receptacle engage with the free ends of the arms after partial insertion of the pins and press the arms together, pushing the contact positions into contact with the pins. A low insertion force is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4435034
Abstract: A connector for connecting at least two insulated conductors, for example telephone line conductors, comprises a hollow body and a hollow cap, the cap, in a typical example fitting into the body to form an enclosure. The front of the body has apertures and guides for admission and guidance of conductors thereinto and the cap has insulation displacing terminals set in a top web. When body and cap are pressed together the terminals make contact with the conductive cores of the conductors. Terminal arrangements permit of butt, bridge and tap connections. A modified form of body permits a tap to be made to a continuous conductor. The cap and body can be provided in a partially assembled or first stage assembly which permits insertion of conductors, the cap and body then being pressed to a fully assembled or second stage assembly for connection of the conductors.

  • Patent number: 4310212
Abstract: A retaining member for retaining cylindrical members, such as rods and wires, has a base and a pair of cantilevered dual action beams extending from the base, the beams having parallel opposed spaced apart inner edges, each beam having an upper and a lower portion, the lower portion having an upwardly and inwardly inclined outer edge and the upper part having an upwardly and outwardly inclined outer edge, the conjunction of the two portions forming a neck, and an entrance portion defined by a downwardly and inwardly inclined upper edge on each beam, the upper edges merging with the inner edges by a radius. Insertion of a cylindrical member deforms the upper portions to a large extent the portions bending about the necks. The lower portions are deformed to a lesser extent and have substantially uniform stress distribution.

  • Patent number: 4163594
Abstract: A tamper-proof and theft-proof electrical connector including a termination unit with a hexagonal front portion internally threaded to be fitted to an externally threaded output terminal of a distributing source. The unit has a rear portion smaller in diameter than the front portion. An annular groove is provided in the rear portion, and a cylindrical clip is retained in the groove. The clip has leaf spring tines which have ends that are spaced from but extend outwardly and toward the front portion. A locking shield is then provided which covers the entire length of the termination unit. The locking shield has an annular portion to fit between the tines and the front portion. The locking shield can be removed with a tool that depresses the tines.

  • Patent number: 4156554
Abstract: A coaxial cable and an electrical connector therefor including a back-nut threaded to a body to receive a female fitting. The body has a stop for the back-nut. The back-nut has an internal shoulder. The body has an internal frusto-conical surface. A conductive ferrule is also provided. A cylindrical member clamps a cylindrical portion of the ferrule to the cable outer conductor. The ferrule has a shoulder. The ferrule also has a slotted frusto-conical surface to fit against the frusto-conical surface of the body. The slots form spring projections that are held in pressure contact with and in good electrical contact with the said body surface. The back-nut shoulder pushes the ferrule toward the body as the back-nut is threaded thereto. The back-nut has a flange behind which a gasket gland is retained. The clamping member is held in axial compression between the ferrule shoulder and the gasket gland.
