The zinc metal can vary from about 0.1 wt. % to about 30 wt. % of the catalyst composition. The catalyst composition can be used to produce hydrogen from methanol at high yield and with a low selectivity towards carbon monoxide (CO) production. The reducible porous oxide carrier includes a mechanical mixture of CeO2 and ZrO2.
