  • Patent number: 11975513
Abstract: Airsoles or bladders for articles of footwear comprising multi-layered films are provided herein. In one aspect, the airsoles or bladders comprise a first sheet and a second sheet, wherein a first side of the first sheet faces a second side of the second sheet, wherein the first sheet and the second sheet are bonded together to form an internal cavity in a space between the first side of the first sheet and the second side of the second sheet, forming a bladder capable of retaining a gas in the internal cavity at a pressure above atmospheric pressure, at atmospheric pressure, or below atmospheric pressure; and wherein each of the first sheet and the second sheet comprise a multi-layered film comprising: a core region comprising at least 20 gas barrier layers and a plurality of elastomeric layers, wherein the gas-barrier layers alternate with the elastomeric layers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 27, 2022
Date of Patent: May 7, 2024
    Assignee: NIKE, INC.
Inventors: Diya Bandyopadhyay, Narayanan Ashwin Kumar Bharadwaj, Yihua Chang, Christopher J. Dimitriou, Nancy D. Eisenmenger, Sharon Oba, Richard L. Watkins

  • Patent number: 5204174
Abstract: There is disclosed a nonwoven web consisting of highly drawn and unoriented thermoplastic fibers formed from a blend of propylene polymer and butylene polymer, wherein the blend by weight is from 90% to 50% polypropylene and from 10% to 50% polybutylene. The blend can be a blend of a homopolymer of polypropylene and a homopolymer of polybutylene; a homopolymer of polypropylene and a copolymer of butylene; a copolymer of propylene and a homopolymer of polybutylene; and a copolymer of propylene and a copolymer of butylene. In addition ternary blends (homopolymers of polypropylene, copolymers of propylene and butylene, terpolymers (propylene, 1-butene, and ethylene), and blends of terpolymers with polypropylene are useful. The resulting nonwoven webs have enhanced toughness, tear resistance, drape, and conformability.

  • Patent number: 5165979
Abstract: There is disclosed a three dimensional nonwoven web consisting of drawn and unoriented thermoplastic fibers formed from a blend of polypropylene and polybutylene, wherein the blend by weight is from 90% to 70% polypropylene and from 10% to 30% polybutylene. The blend can be a blend of a homopolymer of polypropylene and a homopolymer of polybutylene; a homopolymer of polypropylene and a copolymer of polybutylene; a copolymer of polypropylene and a homopolymer of polybutylene; and a copolymer of polypropylene and a copolymer of polybutylene. In addition, ternary blends comprising polypropylene, polybutylene, and terpolymer (propylene, ethylene, and 1-butene) are useful. The resulting nonwoven webs have enhanced strength, toughness, and tear resistance.
