  • Publication number: 20160066290
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for performing timing synchronization via network listening. The system and method can be implemented in a non-synchronized base station to receive Cell-Specific Reference Signals (CRSs) of a synchronized base station during guard periods of special subframes. To allow the non-synchronized base station to receive the CRSs, the non-synchronized base station can configure one or more of its special subframes to have a shorter downlink part than corresponding special subframes of the synchronized base station. The system and method of the present disclosure can use the received CRSs to synchronize the timing of the non-synchronized base station to the timing of the synchronized base station. To prevent a substantial loss in downlink throughput due to the non-synchronized base station using a shorter DwPTS part, tracking can be performed on a once per multiple radio frame basis.

  • Patent number: 8958321
Abstract: A method for managing power control of enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) uplink (UL) channels of at least one user equipment (UE) that is located on a femtocell base station (FBS), is provided herein. The method includes calculating, for the UE, a maximum dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH) power level. The method also includes lower, by the FBS, a DPCCH power level for the UE when the actual DPCCH power level is exceeding the maximum DPCCH power level for the UE. The lowering of the DPCCH power level is independent of a signal-to-interference (SIR) target for the FBS.

  • Publication number: 20120202460
Abstract: A method of invoking denial of service in 3G networks is provided. The method includes receiving a downlink UMTS signal that is operating at a downlink UMTs frequency provided by the UMTS base station. A reference downlink UMTS signal is provided with a reference downlink UMTS frequency. The reference downlink UMTs frequency is aligned with the downlink UMTS frequency based on a frequency offset between the downlink UMTS frequency and the reference downlink UMTS frequency to provide an aligned frequency. A common pilot channel (CPICH) is transmitted over the reference downlink UMTS signal operating at the aligned frequency. Service for the UMTS base station is denied when the CPICH is combined with a UMTS base station CPICH operating at the downlink frequency.

Abstract: Embodiments of a method for acquisition of GPS signals and a GPS receiver with sample time error and frequency offset compensation are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed. In some embodiments, GPS signals are resampled at a plurality of sample rates for each of a plurality of predetermined frequency offsets to compensate for sample time error and frequency offset of a crystal oscillator. The resampled GPS signals may be cross correlated for each of the predetermined frequency offsets. In some embodiments, the sample time error and the frequency offset of the crystal oscillator may substantially exceed a time and frequency drift of reference clocks on GPS satellites.
