In the preferred embodiment, the educational tool is used as a “gateway” to a selected function or functions in a primary computing device, such as a cell phone. An educational question is presented to the user of the primary computing device. The educational question must be correctly answered before use of the selected function is allowed. The user's performance is preferably transmitted to a control computing device which can be used to monitor the user's performance.
