  • Publication number: 20160007404
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure provide for conditionally disabling discontinuous reception (DRX). For example, DRX may be disabled if there is a loss of DRX synchronization, a loss of signal radio bearer traffic, a poor radio frequency condition, a low signal-to-interference ratio estimate, a low transmit power condition, or a drop in transmit power. Various aspects of the present disclosure provide for determining that an access terminal and the network are not in synchronization (e.g., DRX synchronization), and attempting to re-synchronize the access terminal and the network. In cases where a loss of DRX synchronization involves one entity having DRX enabled while another entity has DRX disabled, DRX may be temporarily disabled until synchronization is restored. In cases where a loss of DRX synchronization involves different entities using different subframe indices, the subframe index used by one of the entities may be changed to restore synchronization.

  • Patent number: 9231979
Abstract: This disclosure describes methods, systems, and computer-program products for determining classification rules to use within a fraud detection system The classification rules are determined by accessing distributional data representing a distribution of historical transactional events over a multivariate observational sample space defined with respect to multiple transactional variables. Each of the transactional events is represented by data with respect to each of the variables, and the distributional data is organized with respect to multi-dimensional subspaces of the sample space. A classification rule that references at least one of the subspaces is accessed, and the rule is modified using local optimization applied using the distributional data. A pending transaction is classified based on the modified classification rule and the transactional data.

  • Publication number: 20150372455
Abstract: A crossed nanobeam structure for strain engineering in semiconductor devices is provided. For example, such a structure can be used for a low-threshold germanium laser. While the photonic crystal nanobeam enables light confinement in a subwavelength volume with small optical loss, another crossing nanobeam induces high tensile strain in the small region where the optical mode is tightly confined. As maintaining a small optical loss and a high tensile strain reduces the required pumping for achieving net optical gain beyond cavity losses, this technique can be used to develop an extremely low-threshold Ge laser source. Moreover, the structure can be easily integrated into electronic and photonic circuits.

  • Patent number: 9220184
Abstract: A system includes an electronic device, a heat spreader with a vapor chamber attached to a bottom end of the electronic device, so that heat flows from the electronic device to the heat spreader, and a heat sink with microchannels running through it attached to a bottom end of the heat spreader, so that heat from the heat spreader flows through the heat sink and to an ambient. A method for cooling a device includes transferring heat generated by a device through a conductivity layer, spreading the heat through a heat spreader, transferring the heat from the heat spreader to a heat sink that contains microchannels, and releasing the heat from the heat sink into an ambient.

  • Patent number: 9202883
Abstract: An integrated circuit includes a PMOS gate structure and a gate structure on adjacent field oxide. An epitaxy hard mask is formed over the gate structure on the field oxide so that the epitaxy hard mask overlaps the semiconductor material in PMOS source/drain region. SiGe semiconductor material is epitaxially formed in the source/drain regions, so that that a top edge of the SiGe semiconductor material at the field oxide does not extend more than one third of a depth of the SiGe in the source/drain region abutting the field oxide. Dielectric spacers on lateral surfaces of the gate structure on the field oxide extend onto the SiGe; at least one third of the SiGe is exposed. Metal silicide covers at least one third of a top surface of the SiGe. A contact has at least half of a bottom of the contact directly contacts the metal silicide on the SiGe.

  • Patent number: 9195663
Abstract: The overall architecture and details of a scalable video fingerprinting and identification system that is robust with respect to many classes of video distortions is described. In this system, a fingerprint for a piece of multimedia content is composed of a number of compact signatures, along with traversal hash signatures and associated metadata. Numerical descriptors are generated for features found in a multimedia clip, signatures are generated from these descriptors, and a reference signature database is constructed from these signatures. Query signatures are also generated for a query multimedia clip. These query signatures are searched against the reference database using a fast similarity search procedure, to produce a candidate list of matching signatures. This candidate list is further analyzed to find the most likely reference matches. Signature correlation is performed between the likely reference matches and the query clip to improve detection accuracy.

  • Publication number: 20150317495
Abstract: A system and method for securing a hypervisor and operating systems that execute on a computing device. An encrypted hypervisor is uploaded to a hardware chip. Prior to being executed, the hypervisor is decrypted using a secure security processor and stored in an on-chip memory. When a processor on the hardware chip executes the hypervisor, at least one on-chip component continuously authenticates the hypervisor during execution. A hypervisor configures a processor with access rights associated with an operating system, where the access rights determine access of the operating system to an at least one resource. A transaction filter then uses the access rights associated with the operating system to monitor the access of the operating system to the at least one resource in real-time as the operating system executes on a processor.
