A user equipment (UE) may establish communication with a macro cellular base station. The UE may perform a signal quality measurement of a small cell base station and compare the signal quality measurement to a threshold. Based on the signal quality measurement exceeding the threshold, the UE may attempt to additionally connect to the small cell base station. In response to a radio link failure of the second base station, the UE may modify the first threshold. In response to subsequent failures to additionally connect to the small cell base station using the modified first threshold, the UE may disable connections to the small cell base station.

A connection associated with a voice call may then be connected that includes connecting to a RAN of a second RAT. In response to the voice call connecting to the second RAN, information for both a frequency and a cell associated with connecting to the first RAN may be stored. An end to the voice call may be identified. In response to determining that the voice call has ended, a timer may be generated at the UE that comprises a specified time period and the timer and the information stored for both the frequency and the cell associated with connecting to the first RAN may be utilized to re-connect to the first RAN.

A user equipment (UE) selects a frequency band to scan during a cell search procedure and identifies a frequency within the frequency band that is associated with a synchronization signal block (SSB) based on an indication of the frequency stored locally at the UE prior to the cell search procedure. The UE then scans the frequency for the SSB and determines that the SSB has been broadcast by a cell over the frequency.

The wireless AD refrains from pairing with the companion device until the countdown timer expires in response to determining that the companion device is reachable by the wireless device. After expiration of the countdown timer, if the companion device is still reachable by the wireless AD, the wireless AD may pair with the companion device and/or power down its cellular radio.

    Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for EPS fallback when initiating a voice call while camped on a 5G cell. The UE may camp on a 5G network by performing an IMS registration procedure/IMS SIP invite procedure with an IMS. The UE may initiate a voice call and determine that the voice call cannot be established over the 5G NR network. In response, the UE may perform a TAU procedure or an attachment procedure with a cell of a 4G network. The IMS may be transferred to the 4G network during TAU/attachment procedure. The UE may, in response to determining that it is barred from the 4G network, transition back to the 5G network and transmit, to the 5G NR network, a SIP cancel request to allow a context associated with the UE to be cleared from the IMS.
