    Abstract: The CE-SELEX procedure of the present invention is a novel selection procedure that utilizes capillary electrophoresis (CE) in combination with conventional SELEX selection procedures. CE-SELEX, for the first time, allows selection to be performed in free solution. Performing selection against a target in free solution yields aptamers with improved affinity and/or improved selectivity toward target molecules for use as improved pharmaceuticals and diagnostic agents.
