  • Publication number: 20190069921
Abstract: A device and method for clot disruption in deep venous thrombosis is disclosed herein. The present technology is directed toward a device for clot maceration that includes a longitudinal member, in the form of a catheter, containing radially arrayed elements which, when positioned within a clot, are moved longitudinally, bidirectionally, and rotated in order to disrupt and macerate the surrounding clot. This allows the fragmented clot to be easily removed through a separate device; alternatively this renders the clot significantly more amenable to treatment with fibrinolytic agents given the markedly enhanced surface area of the fragmented clot. The radially arrayed elements may have a variety of forms, with a preferred embodiment containing bristles shaped specifically to engage vein valves in such a way as to cause no damage to them, while simultaneously prompting the clearance of clot from the valve sinuses.

  • Patent number: 10137018
Abstract: A router device is a intraluminal prosthesis which is used in the repair of aneurysms and other diseases of the aorta. The device also has applications in other vascular beds. The device incorporates an inflatable cuff or sequence of cuffs at one end for fixation and sealing. This cuff may be placed proximal to branch vessels of the aorta. Attached to the cuff is a tubular graft consisting of a generally cylindrical graft material. The graft material may contain one or more fenestrations, intended to align with branch vessels as they emerge from the parent vessel, the aorta in the preferred embodiment. The device features a deliberate taper of its diameter as the device crosses the area of branch vessels. This taper brings the diameter of the graft material to a lesser diameter than that of the parent vessel, leaving a deliberate and distinct space between the device and the wall of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 6588588
Abstract: An adapter that converts medical guidewire packaging into a reusable storage device. The adapter includes a conduit with first and second ends each having an opening and a passage there between. The adapter also includes an angled funnel with a duct and an enlarged end having an enlarged opening or port. The funnel is attached to the conduit between its ends and the duct of the funnel is in communication with the passage of the conduit. The first end of the conduit of the adapter is inserted into the opening of one end of a packaging tube while the other end of the packaging tube is inserted into the opening of the second end of the conduit of the adapter. Medical guidewires are inserted into the conduit of the adapter via the funnel and guided into the packaging tube by the funnel's duct and the adapter's conduit.

  • Patent number: 6159230
Abstract: A device for removing undesirable material from a tubular structure within the human body features a cylindrical body with a lumen therethrough. The distal portion of the body is divided into a number of flexible members. An inflatable cuff is attached to the flexible members. When the cuff is inflated, the members flex radially outwardly so that the distal opening of the lumen is expanded. An inflation tube is used to inflate and deflate the cuff by means of a syringe. An elastomeric membrane sleeve surrounds the flexible members so that the latter are contracted towards their original position when the cuff is deflated. The sleeve also prevents material from escaping between the flexible members when the cuff is inflated.

  • Patent number: 5423851
Abstract: A method and apparatus for affixing an endoluminal device to the walls of tubular structures within the body is disclosed which utilizes incremental inflation of a balloon cuff to deploy radially projecting barbs attached to the cuff within a plurality of recesses. At lower levels of cuff pressure, the engagement of the outer surface of the cuff with the tubular structure temporarily holds the device in place without tissue damage because the outer extremity of the barbs do not extend beyond the cuff's outer surface. If the device requires repositioning, then the cuff is easily deflated and moved to a new location and is again partially inflated. Once the location of the device has been found to be optimal, the cuff is fully inflated so as to deploy the barbs to permanently fix the device in place.
