An exemplary high efficiency coffee maker includes a liquid reservoir having a liquid sensor that can monitor a level of a liquid within the liquid reservoir and a heating assembly having a heating element that can transfer heat to the liquid flowing through the heating assembly from the liquid reservoir. The coffee maker also includes an electrical component in electrical communication with the liquid sensor and the heating element that can shut off the heating element in response to the liquid sensor sensing the level of the liquid within the liquid reservoir reaching a predetermined level.
