Patent number: 11486528Abstract: An enhanced quick coupling configuration has a push-to-connect locking mechanism in which holding the outer sleeve does not affect the ability to connect the coupling, and the outer sleeve otherwise does not need to be restrained by additional components. The coupling includes a single sleeve spring in the locking mechanism, and the use of smaller restriction slots to house axially offset locking balls in a manner that axially constrains movement of the locking balls. When a male component is inserted into the female component during a connection operation, a shoulder on the male component sequentially contacts the axially offset rows of locking balls, which drive the inner sleeve axially in an inward direction. In the fully connected state, the inner sleeve is biased axially outward so as to push back against the inward locking balls, thereby preventing further movement of the inward locking balls.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2020Date of Patent: November 1, 2022Assignee: Parker-Hannifin CorporationInventors: Leonard Nick, Jason Koller, Timothy Marquis, Shawn Ellis, Paul Lemay

Publication number: 20220345513Abstract: Systems and methods of placeshifting media playback between two or more devices are provided. For example, a method for placeshifting media may include downloading onto a first device an index of files accessed or modified on a second device via a data storage server, at least one of the files being a media file played on the second device. The first device may display a user selectable list of the files on the first device before issuing a request for the media file to the data storage server. The data storage server may send the media file to the first device from the data storage server, and the first device may play back the media file where the second device left off.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2022Publication date: October 27, 2022Inventors: Michael ROSENBLATT, Gloria LIN, Amir Mahmood MIKHAK, Taido Lantz NAKAJIMA, Sean Anthony MAYO, Andrew HODGE, Anthony Michael FADELL, Jeffery Theodore LEE, Shawn A. Publication number: 20210148499Abstract: An enhanced quick coupling configuration having a push-to-connect locking mechanism is provided in which holding the outer sleeve does not affect the ability to connect the coupling, and the outer sleeve otherwise does not need to be restrained by additional components. The locking mechanism also does not require the coupling components to overtravel during connection. Such advantages are accomplished using a reduction of design complexity over conventional configurations in the use of a single sleeve spring in the locking mechanism, and the use of smaller restriction slots to house axially offset locking balls in a manner that axially constrains movement of the locking balls. When a male component is inserted into the female component during a connection operation, a shoulder on the male component sequentially contacts the axially offset rows of locking balls, which drive the inner sleeve axially in an inward direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2020Publication date: May 20, 2021Inventors: Leonard Nick, Jason Koller, Timothy Marquis, Shawn Ellis, Paul Lemay

Patent number: 9311043Abstract: Various techniques for adaptively varying audio feedback data on an electronic device are provided. In one embodiment, an audio user interface implementing certain aspects of the present disclosure may devolve or evolve the verbosity of audio feedback in response to user interface events based at least partially upon the verbosity level of audio feedback provided during previous occurrences of the user interface event. In another embodiment, an audio user interface may be configured to vary the verbosity of audio feedback associated with a navigable list of items based at least partially upon the speed at which a user navigates the list. In a further embodiment, an audio user interface may be configured to vary audio feedback verbosity based upon the contextual importance of a user interface event. Electronic devices implementing the present techniques provide an improved user experience with regard to audio user interfaces.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2013Date of Patent: April 12, 2016Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Benjamin A. Patent number: 9247365Abstract: Speakers (e.g. “loudspeakers”) from different manufactures may have differing characteristics. In order to improve audio performance, an audio system may customize audio settings based on characteristics of an attached speaker. Described is a technique for determining speaker characteristics by sending a signal through a filter of the attached speaker. The signal may be a probing signal that produces no audible effect from the speaker. The signal may progress through one or more frequency ranges and an impedance signature may be measured. When the signal progresses through a frequency range, the impedance may be measured and a speaker model type and/or characteristics or condition of the speaker may be determined based on the measured impedance.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2013Date of Patent: January 26, 2016Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Shawn Ellis, Jonathan Switkes

Publication number: 20150027057Abstract: Doors such as garage doors can be automated by pushing commands to a removable device attached to the garage door. The state of the door (e.g. whether the door is open or closed) may be obtained from a position sensor located within a removable device. An implementation may indicate, over a wireless network, the state of the door to a user. The user may send a command to a wireless transmitter located within the device to change the state of the door. An implementation may also send a signal to the door to change the state of the door.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2013Publication date: January 29, 2015Applicant: Google Inc.Inventors: Joe Freeman Britt, Jr., William Wurz, Shawn Ellis, Paul Heninwolf

Publication number: 20140324884Abstract: This is directed to recommending media items of a user's media library. In particular, this is directed to transferring a portion of the user's media library to an electronic device so that the user may discover the portion of the media library. The library can recommend particular media items to the user using any suitable approach, including for example based on one or more preference profiles. The user can accept or reject recommended media items as they are played back to further adjust the user's preference profile, and to revise the selection of recommended media items stored on the device.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2014Publication date: October 30, 2014Applicant: APPLE INC.Inventors: Aram Lindahl, Wendy Goh, Allen P.
