  • Publication number: 20080121570
Abstract: A system controlled responsive to data bearing records includes a card reader that is operative to read data from user cards including identifying data, and authorizes operation of an automated banking machine responsive to the identifying data. The automated banking machine includes a housing including a generally L-shaped chest portion and an upper housing portion. The banking machine includes a fascia which extends on the outside of a wall and includes a user interface. Responsive to inputs of a user through the user interface the machine is operative to accept a stack of sheets which are evaluated through operation of a sheet validator device and which enables acceptable sheets to be stored within the chest portion. Unacceptable sheets may be routed to a storage area. Provisions may be made for reducing the risk of attack on the machine by criminals and to facilitate servicing by authorized personnel.

  • Patent number: 7370792
Abstract: An ATM apparatus having a bulk sheet acceptor. The sheet acceptor is mounted in movable relation relative to a chest portion of the ATM. Access to an interior of the sheet acceptor for servicing may be made through an access opening. A service cover may be mounted at alternate mounting sites of the sheet acceptor housing in order to close the access opening. The interior of the sheet acceptor may be accessed by pivoting the cover on a set of tabs engaged in corresponding slots, or by selectively lifting the cover away from the tabs. The cover may be replaced by engagement of either a first set of tabs with corresponding first slots, or a second set of tabs with corresponding second slots.

  • Patent number: 7322481
Abstract: An ATM (10) includes a housing (46) including a generally L-shaped chest portion (48) and an upper housing portion (54). The ATM includes a fascia (12) which extends on the outside of a wall (14) and includes a user interface (15). Responsive to inputs of a user through the user interface the machine is operative to accept a stack of sheets (84) which are evaluated through operation of a sheet validator device (88) and which enables acceptable sheets to be stored within the chest portion. Unacceptable sheets are routed to a storage area (100). Provisions are made for reducing the risk of attack on the ATM by criminals and to facilitate servicing by authorized personnel.

  • Publication number: 20080000963
Abstract: An exemplary ATM (10) includes a fascia (12) which extends on the outside of a wall (14) and includes a user interface (15). Responsive to user inputs through the user interface, the ATM is operative to receive a stack of currency notes (84) from a user. A currency note stack can be evaluated through operation of a currency note validator device (88). Acceptable currency notes can be stored in the ATM for recycling. Unacceptable currency notes can be routed to a bulk storage area (100). The ATM also includes an exemplary note picking arrangement to pick currency notes from a received stack, including use of contact and non-contact stripping rollers.

  • Publication number: 20070216081
Abstract: An automated banking machine (10) includes a cash dispenser (220). A machine user interface (15) includes a card reader (16), receipt printer opening (30), and cash dispensing opening (38). A cash acceptor mechanism (80) includes a chute (82) which enables a user to input a stack of currency notes (84) into the machine through a deposit opening (40). Notes are separated from an inputted stack via a note picker device (158, 352) and a note stripper device (64, 162, 354). Upon sensing multiple notes have been picked, picker device movement is reversed to function with the stripper device in returning notes toward the stack. The stripper device is driven to move a note engaged therewith at a faster rate or for a longer time period relative to a note engaged with the picker device to reorient returning notes to facilitate a subsequent note separation attempt.

  • Patent number: 7152784
Abstract: An automated banking machine (10) is provided. The automated banking machine may include a fascia (50) in operative connection with a frame (110). The machine may include a plurality of hardware devices which are accessible through the fascia. The hardware devices may include a cash dispenser (24), receipt printer (20), and a card reader (22). The fascia may include replaceable bezels (550,552) with apertures therein for providing access to hardware devices. The bezels may be operative to float with respect to the fascia and hardware devices to automatically align hardware devices with the bezels. In addition the hardware devices may include movable portions which are operative to automatically align with the bezels. The bezels may include ramps, ribs, or other angled surfaces which guide the hardware devices into alignment with the openings in the bezels.

  • Patent number: 7140607
Abstract: An automated banking machine (10) includes a user interface (15). The user interface includes a card reader (16), receipt printer opening (30), cash dispensing opening (38) and deposit accepting opening (40). A stack of notes (84) input to the machine are separated one by one from the stack through the action of at least one picking member (158, 352) and at least one stripper member (64, 162, 354). The actions of non-contact stripper rolls and a contact stripper roll are generally effective to only enable a single note to move past the stripper members. Upon sensing that multiple notes have moved past the stripper members with a sensor (176, 366) the system is operative to return notes to the stack for subsequent picking trials. In some cases the stripper members may be driven so as to move notes engaged therewith relative to a note engaged with the stripper member so as to reorient the notes and facilitate note separation in subsequent picking events.

  • Publication number: 20040124240
Abstract: An automated banking machine (10) accepts deposit items such as currency, checks, gift certificates or other items of value. Deposited items after being accepted in the machine and processed are moved to the container (260). The container includes an interior area (268) which is bounded by a shaker member (282) on which deposit items are supported. The machine is operative to control operation of an actuator (290) which moves the shaker member to impart shaking motion to deposited items (278) to facilitate the compact storage thereof within the container. The container is enabled to be removed from the machine to facilitate removal of the deposited items. Movement of the container out of and away from the machine is facilitated by rollable supports (296) and a retractable handle (298).
