  • Publication number: 20230318367
Abstract: Motors for use in downhole systems such as electric submersible pumps. In one embodiment, an ESP system includes a pump and a motor which drives the pump. The motor has an elongated cylindrical stator and a rotor which is concentrically positioned within a bore through the stator. The rotor is driven by the stator to rotate within the bore. The stator comprises a plurality of separable, interconnected modular stator sections which may be identical. Between each pair of adjacent stator sections, a corresponding interconnect electrically connects coils of magnet wire in the stator sections to a power source. In some cases, the interconnect between stator sections electrically connects the coils of magnet wire serially in the adjacent stator sections. In other embodiments, the coils in adjacent stator sections are connected in parallel the power source.

  • Publication number: 20230287772
Abstract: A pumping system is designed for deployment and retrieval through the production tubing in a live well intervention. The pumping system includes a pump driven by a motor, which may be an integrated motor or a separated motor in which the stator and rotor are separated by the production tubing. The pumping system can be provided power through a reinforced power cable that is capable of supporting the weight of some combination of the motor and pump, or through a standard power cable that is not designed to carry the weight of additional downhole components.

  • Publication number: 20220148759
Abstract: An electric submersible pumping system includes a motor, a pump driven by the motor, and a cable that provides electrical power to the motor. The cable includes a conductor and an insulator surrounding the conductor. The insulator includes a first layer surrounding the conductor and a second layer surrounding the first layer. The insulator may include an H2S scavenger and an H2S reactant in the first or second layers surrounding the conductor. The cable optionally includes a sub-insulator layer that includes a metal or nitride coating applied directly to the conductor.

  • Publication number: 20200340481
Abstract: A well fluid pump has a housing with a stator having a stack of discs through which windings extend. First and second stage modules in a bore of the stator have rotating impellers and non-rotating diffusers. Magnets mounted in each of the stage modules rotate the impellers in response to electromagnetic fields generated by the windings. Anti-rotation members join adjacent ones of the impellers together in each of the stage modules for rotation in unison. A bearing assembly between the first and second stage modules has a rotatable inner portion in engagement with the impellers in the first and second stage modules for causing them to rotate in unison. The bearing assembly has a non-rotating outer portion in engagement with the stator to prevent rotation.

  • Patent number: 10718196
Abstract: A well pump assembly has a pump housing with an intake member. A barrel has a barrel head secured to and extending downward from the intake member. A plunger is reciprocally carried in the barrel bore. An intake passage extends coaxially in the intake member and the barrel head into the barrel bore above the plunger. An intake port extends from an exterior of the intake member to the intake passage. A nozzle is secured within in the intake passage. The nozzle has an orifice passage with a downward converging section extending downward to a constant diameter section. The constant diameter section has a smaller diameter than the intake passage.

  • Publication number: 20080043132
Abstract: An imaging device and/or system which has an image sensor module for generating first image data representing images captured by the image sensor module. The imaging device also has an image processor for receiving and processing the first image data. The image processor has a power-up image circuit for generating and/or outputting second image data representing a power-up image. When the imaging device is being powered up, the image processor is capable of selectively outputting the first and second image data for display.
