  • Patent number: 8549172
Abstract: A method, computer program product and network management server for distributing software. The network management server receives a request to deploy an application on a designated target client station at a designated scheduled time. The network management server determines whether to deploy the application on the designated target client station at the designated time based on the resource state of the systems involved in the deployment of the software (e.g., processor usage of the network management server, processor usage of the target client station) as well as the environmental conditions (e.g., bandwidth usage, time of day pricing for connectivity at scheduled time, work orders on the target client station). By taking into consideration the dynamic resource state of the systems involved in the deployment of the software as well as the environmental conditions, software may be deployed on the client stations by the network management server more effectively.

  • Patent number: 8413042
Abstract: Personalization of content of a web site for a user based on a web site that a user arrives from is disclosed. For example, the content of the web site from which the user arrives (i.e., the originating page), as well as the content of the web page the user has arrived to (i.e., the target page), may be categorized as pertaining to particular subjects or topics. Any time a user comes from an originating page, the subject categories for the originating page and the target page may be compared to determine if like categories exist between the pages. In the event that like categories are found, the target page may be personalized based on those categories.

  • Publication number: 20090031251
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to overcome the limitations of the prior art through the use of a wireless management interface (WMI). The WMI enables a user to securely manage the wireless transfer and synchronization of data between two or more wireless-equipped devices. The WMI is preferably implemented in a combination of hardware and software and operates by enabling a user, via a graphical display and user input capabilities, to establish a communication profile for any two or more devices. The communication profile includes one or more content parameters and one or more timing parameters. In response to receiving configuration instructions from the WMI, the devices then operate to transfer or synchronize designated content at a designated time according to the communication profile. Synchronization is further facilitated by a database that is accessible to the WMI and maintains the communication profiles and other device-specific configuration information.

  • Patent number: 7010681
Abstract: The present invention depicts a method, system and program product for controlling levels of security and levels of encryption based on a predefined policy profile. This enables administrators and those who control the network to easily respond to changes in the requirements of the security levels for specific applications. It also allows for response to changes in personnel (such as someone being removed from a position that had topsecret security access) and accommodates variations in access by client devices.

  • Patent number: 6138156
Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable code with which environmental factors can be used to dynamically filter the content being delivered from a server to a user's workstation. A rule-based approach is used to select an appropriate filter, enabling varying types and degrees of content reduction to be applied based on currently-existing conditions. This provides a way to manage the volume of data received by the user, without requiring input from the user, by reducing the amount of data sent to him by a server. In the preferred embodiment, conditions to be monitored include billing information related to the user's account with his connection service provider; characteristics of the device he is currently using, including its available storage capacity; and/or behavioral characteristics of this user when he requests to download files.
