Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for providing access to a firewalled resource are provided. A system includes a controller configured to be positioned outside of the firewall and configured to receive connection information from the resource through the firewall. The controller is configured to generate instructions for establishing a connection between the client device and the resource through the firewall based on the connection information received from the resource. The controller is configured to transmit the instructions to the client device. The client device is configured to open a connection between the client device and the resource through the firewall based on the instructions transmitted to the client device from the controller.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for providing access to a firewalled resource are provided. A system includes a controller configured to be positioned outside of the firewall and configured to communicate with the client device and a mediator configured to communicate with the controller via a communications network. The mediator is configured to communicate with the resource and is configured to be positioned behind the firewall such that communications between the mediator and the resource do not traverse the firewall and communications between the mediator and the controller traverse the firewall. The mediator is configured to open a bidirectional connection between the mediator and the controller through which communications between the client device and protected resource may be transmitted. Requests forwarded by the mediator to the resource may be formatted in a manner such that they appear to the resource to be received from the client device.
