  • Publication number: 20210253253
Abstract: An airframe is provided that can be flown under the control of an operator or an automated sensor and feedback system. The airframe can be any of a variety of known configurations with multiple rotors, fixed or retractable wings, puller or pusher propellers, or jet engines. The airframe includes at least one arm that is used to intercept and disable another airborne vehicle. In some configurations, the arm is fixed and can include fingers at its outer end. In other configurations, the arm is movable from a closed condition to an open condition. A wire or net is connected between the arm and a portion of the airframe so that the wire or net is spread open when the arm is deployed to the open condition. The wire or net are configured to disable or capture a target such as another aerial vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10955224
Abstract: An exemplary configuration of a net packing device includes a winding tool and a loading tool. In an exemplary method, the net is weaved onto the winding tool and then transferred to the loading tool. The net is pushed off of the loading tool into a net gun storage chamber configured to receive nets that are ready to launch. The winding and loading tools each have first and second prongs that are spaced apart the same distance so that the ends can be aligned. The net can be weaved about sleeves carried by the prongs of the winding tool. The net and sleeves are moved to the loading tool where the net is then pushed from the sleeves. In other exemplary configurations, only the loading tool is used.

  • Publication number: 20190078859
Abstract: A device launcher can be carried and be used to launch a device by an airborne UAV against an airborne or ground target. The target can be a moving target with the device configured to slow or disable the movement of the target. The device can be triggered manually or through an automated targeting system. The launch apparatus can be configured to launch a single device or a plurality of devices. The device launched against the target can be separated from the launch vehicle or tethered to the launch vehicle. The device can be a net that entangles the rotors of a rotor-driven vehicle. The device can include a parachute to retard movement of target vehicle whether it is falling or if it continues to move. A method of patrolling a perimeter with an airborne vehicle includes the steps of moving the airborne vehicle within the perimeter to sense unauthorized targets and launching a device against those sensed targets.
