Patent number: 11938260Abstract: An apparatus for guiding cannulation with a dialysis needle of an arteriovenous dialysis access graft subcutaneously implanted in a body of a subject. The guiding apparatus comprises an elongated body member comprising a base portion terminating in longitudinal edges, a distance between the longitudinal edges of the base portion being substantially equal to a lateral dimension of the aces graft, and an elongated tubular sleeve defining an pocket having a longitudinal dimension and a lateral dimension configured to receive the body member. The body member is adapted to be received in the pocket of the sleeve for securing adjacent the subcutaneous access graft such that the inner surface of the base portion is aligned with a cannulation point of the graft for guiding location of a needle insertion.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2021Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: InnAVasc Medical, Inc.Inventors: Shawn M. Gage, Jeffrey H. Lawson, Joseph Knight, Craig Nichols

Patent number: 11925782Abstract: A method for rotatable selection of sites for cannulation of a subcutaneous vascular access vessel comprises the step of providing a template defining an opening for a plurality of zones, each of the plurality of zones configured for receiving a plurality of simultaneous cannulations accessing the vascular access vessel. The outer surface of the template is marked, the marking defining each of the plurality of zones for use as cannulation sites along the vascular access vessel. The template is positioned on the skin of the patient adjacent the subcutaneous vascular access vessel such that the opening aligns with the vascular access vessel, and the marking is used for selecting a first zone for a cannulation site into the vascular access vessel such that the cannulation site in the first zone is spaced from and not adjacent to a second zone used for cannulation immediately previously to the first zone.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2020Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: InnAVasc Medical, Inc.Inventors: Shawn M. Gage, Joseph Knight, Michael Lawson, Craig Nichols

Patent number: 9549834Abstract: A deployment device to deploy a prosthesis for interconnecting vessel portions of a body vessel is described herein. The device includes a support frame and an actuation member coupled to the support frame. The actuation member is movable between a first and a second position. A retaining member is movable between a closed and a open position. In the closed position, the retaining member forms a chamber to retain a length of a prosthesis in a compressed configuration. In the open position, the retaining member is positioned to allow the prosthesis to move to an expanded configuration. Movement of the actuation member to the second position causes movement of the retaining member to the open position. One or more retractable cuffs can be positioned over the ends of the prosthesis for selectively retaining the corresponding prosthesis ends in the compressed configuration.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2015Date of Patent: January 24, 2017Assignee: Cook Medical Technologies LLCInventors: Amro Kamel, Eugene E. Skelton, Darren P. Corner, Shawn Nichols

Patent number: 9297499Abstract: A device for the cryopreservation and/or vitrification of a biological sample in a freezing medium is described. The device preferably comprises a bath for receiving a vessel containing a biological sample in liquid-phase nitrogen. In one example, the bath includes a first member extending generally vertically from a bottom wall portion which divides the interior chamber of the bath into a first sub-chamber adapted for receiving a volume of cryogenic freezing medium and a second or overflow sub-chamber adapted to receive freezing medium from the first sub-chamber. A second member extends generally horizontally between the sidewall portions of the bath and includes at least one opening for receiving a biological sample-containing vessel(s). A kit including a cryogenic storage device and a vessel is also described.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2013Date of Patent: March 29, 2016Assignee: Cook Medical Technologies LLCInventors: Jorge L. Jimenez-Rios, Bryan D. Woodard, Shawn Nichols, Scott K. Philhower, Barry B. Hoult
