    Abstract: A projectile includes a wing structure to form both an inlet that intakes air for combustion by a propulsion system of the projectile during an initial range of flight, and a lift surface for the projectile after the propulsion engine of the propulsion system burns out. The wing structure acts as both the inlet and the lift surface to enable both a long range and an optimal time of flight for the projectile to the target. The wing structure includes at least one wing that is movable from a folded position, in which the wing extends along a propulsion body section of the projectile to define the inlet, to a deployed position, in which the wing extends outwardly from the propulsion body section to form the lift surface. Any number of wings may be provided and the wings may be simultaneously deployed or sequentially deployed depending on the application.

    Abstract: The subject disclosure is directed towards a technology by which background application code (e.g., provided by third-party developers) runs on a mobile device in a way that is constrained with respect to resource usage. A resource manager processes a resource reservation request for background code, to determine whether the requested resources meet constraint criteria for that type of background code. If the criteria are met and the resources are available, the resources are reserved, whereby the background code is ensured priority access to its reserved resources. As a result, a properly coded background application that executes within its constraints will not experience glitches or other problems (e.g., unexpected termination) and thereby provide a good user experience.

    Abstract: The subject disclosure is directed towards a technology in which a mobile device maintains an application in a dormant state in which the application's process is not terminated and remains in memory, but the application cannot execute code. Further, state and execution context are maintained for the application, allowing the application to be quickly and efficiently resumed into the running state. To prevent the application from executing code while dormant, thread activity is suspended, requests canceled, completed or paused, resources detached, and so forth. Resource usage may be monitored for dormant applications, to remove a misbehaving dormant application process from memory if improperly using resources.

    Abstract: “In-situ editing” of a control property within a design surface is provided. “In-situ editing” refers to a feature that can allow a user (e.g., developer) to easily perform multi-pass configuration operations on their user interface (UI) components. This can be achieved by introducing the concept of a new editing mode or view to the integrated development environment (IDE)—(e.g., a Property Editing View (PEV)). The PEV mode can be active. In other words, the user will be presented with a mechanism of viewing and editing all properties without having to move off of the design surface. For example, editing can be performed in-place eliminating the conventional need to enter a property grid.

The states and movement between them are transparent to the programmer because the states are handled internally by the library.
