Publication number: 20230251368Abstract: The disclosure describes techniques to scan a radio frequency antenna beam along one or more axes. For example, for a wide transmit beam oriented such that the long axis is in azimuth, this disclosure describes techniques to scan the transmit beam in elevation, in the direction of a short axis of the transmit beam. The radar receive aperture may be synchronized with transmit beam to scan the radar receive aperture using RF beamforming such that the elevation scan of the field of view of the radar receive aperture follows the elevation scan of the transmit beam. The radar receiver circuitry may also down-convert the received radar signals to an intermediate frequency (IF). The radar receiver circuitry may digitally form monopulse receive beams at IF within the processing circuitry of the receiver electronics and digitally scan the monopulse receive beams along the long axis of the field of view.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2022Publication date: August 10, 2023Inventors: Shawn Rogers, Marc M. Pos, Darren Goshi, David C. Vacanti

Patent number: 10512146Abstract: An x-ray tube casing is provided which includes a central frame having internal passages to supply a cooling fluid directly to the casing without the need for an external dedicated heat exchanger. The cooling fluid flowing through the passages in the easing can thermally contact the dielectric coolant within the casing to cool the tube coolant during operation of the x-ray tube. The casing is formed in an additive manufacturing process to allow for tight tolerances with regard to the structure for the casing and the internal passages to reduce the size and weight of the casing. The casing can additionally be formed from a metal matrix including a metal with high x-ray attenuation and a filler metal. The metal matrix eliminates the need for a separate x-ray attenuation layer within the casing, further reducing the size, number of parts and assembly complexity of the casing.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2017Date of Patent: December 17, 2019Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Carey Shawn Rogers, Andrew J. Desrosiers, Matthew Karesh
