Abstract: A connecting assembly for quick and safe securing of equipment or tools to a wellhead or for connection between wellbore equipment such as wireline tools or coiled tubing tools. The connecting assembly has a top sub that includes a latching assembly containing a hydraulically actuated locking ring and a mechanically actuated locking segment that selectively engages within the bottom sub to operatively connect the bottom sub within the top sub in sealing engagement.

The apparatus includes a cap sub, vertical support member, a horizontal support member, a base member, and a hydraulic cylinder. The lifting device is attached to a wellhead assembly through a cap sub. The base member is attached to the cap sub through an enlarged ring. The base member also includes an elongated projected portion. The vertical support member is rotatably retained within a bore in the elongated projected portion. The proximal end of horizontal support member is connected to the upper end of the vertical support member. The hydraulic cylinder, which includes a hydraulic head and a hydraulic piston, is connected to the distal end of the horizontal support member. The vertical support member is capable of being rotated about the base member.

Abstract: An elongated, hollow spool has end flanges and a recessed section between the end flanges. The spool may be attached to an flange atop a tubular member, and other equipment may be attached to the top of the spool. A pull collar, typically of two substantially identical half circle pieces, fits around the intermediate section and is pinned together. The collar can then rotate around the spool, but is longitudinally restrained. Attachment lugs formed in the collar permit attachment of securing members, to run to anchor points, or to fasten to other equipment to stabilize same.
