  • Patent number: 10191949
Abstract: Systems and methods for transforming a similarity matrix used to generate content item recommendation lists are described. The system may determine a weight (used to transform the similarity matrix) sufficient to place one or more content items on the content item recommendation list or at a particular position on the recommendation list. The transformed similarity matrix may further be reduced in size, and content recommendations may be generated using the transformed or reduced similarity matrix.

  • Patent number: 9967600
Abstract: A multi-channel embedded data technique allows for embedding data, such as watermarks into multiple channels of audio, video, multi-media, and other digitized content streams. Two or more of the channels may be utilized. The embedded data may be segmented within each channel, and these segments may start and stop at identical times, or may be staggered or offset from one another. The available payload may be used for different data, or redundant data, providing enhanced reliability. Staggering allows for more rapid availability of at least some of the embedded data segments. References may be used between channels and between data streams to provide for highly complex configurations of encoding and decoding of the embedded data.

  • Patent number: 9947019
Abstract: A method for constructing a context profile within a system implementing symmetrical object profiles. The method includes establishing one or more contextual boundary parameters defining a context within which transactions occur. A plurality of transactions associated with the context is filtered using the contextual boundary parameters to obtain a pool of filtered transactions. Each of the transactions is conducted between at least two objects in the system including a plurality of objects associated with the symmetrical object profiles. An array of filtered objects including objects involved in at least one filtered transaction is established. Each filtered object is defined by a current version of a corresponding object profile and is associated with a corresponding transaction. The method includes generating a context object profile associated with the context that is based on attribute values of filtered object profiles associated with the array of filtered objects.

  • Patent number: 9681106
Abstract: Data is transmitted by or collected from individual receivers of broadcast content on a particularized basis. The broadcast content is transmitted without regard to selection of a particular content stream by any one or more receivers. The receiver data is analyzed, and may be analyzed in conjunction with other information such as details on broadcast content streams made during certain times, and selections of broadcast streams by particular receivers. System configuration changes and targeted content may then be transmitted by a bidirectional data exchange medium to the individualized receivers based upon the analysis.

  • Patent number: 9473730
Abstract: A method and system for modeling the interests of an individual television viewer based on logging the user's television usage activities for the purpose of determining personalized recommendations is presented. According to one aspect of the claimed subject matter, user input in response to a questionnaire, the user's recorded television usage, the user's previous interactions with the personalized recommendations and contextual data such as external events and social group influences are used to model the probability of a user's interest in available media content. Data from the model is subsequently arranged to display units of available media content with the highest probabilities of user interest to the user. According to further embodiments, specific user behavior in previously consumed media content such as a user's selection, a user's continuous consumption, and a user's discontinuation of consumption is tracked and used as input.

  • Publication number: 20150289032
Abstract: Standard video (and audio) data are combined or blended with immersive video (and audio) data. The data may be collected together, and the standard video views may be a default or reflect a primary view or scene for certain content. The immersive video views may be adjacent or around the primary view, and are available for viewing based upon audience input. The data are blended temporally and spatially to synchronize and align them for virtually seamless transition between the standard video view and the immersive video views. Blending may be performed before distribution, after distribution, or some combination of these.

  • Patent number: 9069765
Abstract: A system is described that implements symmetrical object profiles across one or more objects, wherein an object profile is influenced by other object profiles with which it interacts. In particular, the system includes a configuration for a first object profile that is associated with a first object, wherein the first object profile comprises a set of attributes having a first set of valuations. The system includes a configuration for a second object profile that is associated with a second object, wherein the second object profile comprises said set of attributes having a second set of valuations. • Patent number: 8813110
Abstract: The broadcast of content over a unidirectional broadcast channel is adjusted by analysis of data received from receivers of the content via a bidirectional data exchange channel. The broadcast may be altered in signal, signal strength, signal direction, encoding, and so forth. The receivers may communicate the data over any suitable network, such as the Internet. The data may include past, current and planned selections of content, as well as geographic and demographic information, when available.

  • Publication number: 20140157347
Abstract: Broadcasts over designated bands of the radiofrequency spectrum allow for flexible use of the spectrum as well as for the receipt of return signals from receivers. To obtain return signals, information indicating one or more return channels and/or one or more return time windows may be sent with the broadcast transmission. The broadcast transmission may be made over UHF bands, with the return signals being made over VHF bands. Spectrum may be utilized more efficiently by transmitting one or more beacon signals that define parameters for the broadcast transmission. Receivers may be adapted to decode the data of the beacon signals and rapidly tune to the broadcast transmission.
