  • Patent number: 4767542
Abstract: N-chloro and N-bromo derivatives of 2-imidazolidinones having substituents at the 4 and 5 positions of the ring are described. More particularly, there are described dichloro, dibromo-, and chlorobromo- derivatives of 2-imidazolidinones having at least three substituents selected from alkyl, alkoxy, hydroxy and substituted phenyl, e.g., para-substituted phenyl, at the 4 and 5 positions on the ring. These N-halo compounds are biocides, e.g., bactericides, and are useful as disinfectants and sanitizers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 28, 1987
Date of Patent: August 30, 1988
    Assignee: PPG Industries, Inc.
