  • Patent number: 4363407
Abstract: A method and system for testing and sorting a production run of sheet-like batteries includes: testing each battery to obtain a first value of electrical energy; placing machine readable indicia on each battery corresponding to the first value; retesting each battery after passage of a period of time to obtain a second value of electrical energy; machine reading the indicia and computing the rate of decay of electrical energy for each battery as a function of the difference between said first and second values per unit time; and sorting the batteries in accordance with the computed rate of decay to separate those batteries having an acceptable rate of decay from those batteries having too great a rate of decay.

  • Patent number: 4242424
Abstract: The method of making a thin flat laminar battery comprising the steps of coating a substrate with a dispersion of zinc powder and water to produce an anode slurry, and thereafter diffusing electrolytes into said anode slurry; and electrical cells and batteries made by this process.

  • Patent number: 4105815
Abstract: Thin flat Leclanche cells and batteries comprising cathodes in the form of slurries of manganese dioxide and carbon in an electrolyte solution containing from 23 to 30 percent of water based on the weight of the slurry. The anodes may be of conventional dry patch construction, or may take the form of slurries of zinc powder in an electrolyte solution containing from 25 to 40 percent of water based on the weight of the anode slurry.

  • Patent number: 4080728
Abstract: A method of making thin flat laminar batteries in which subassemblies are made by sealing conductive intercell connectors to the inner peripheries of frames of nonconducting material and wet electrodes are applied on either side of the intercell connectors. A separator is placed over one of the wet electrodes. A series array of these subassemblies are sealed together about the outer peripheries of the frames, with electrodes of opposite polarity in adjacent subassemblies in contact with the separator. End cells are completed by frames sealed on one side to terminal collector sheets and on the other side to external surfaces of the series array.
