  • Patent number: 10799704
Abstract: A proximity-based security mechanism can control access to the programming interface of an implanted medical device. The security mechanism prevents unauthorized remote access to the programming interface by hackers or other hostile individuals, securing the safety of the subject. The system also allows the subject or other responsible person to activate the programming interface when changes to the operation of the implanted medical device are needed. In one example, a security interface is operable to detect, while implanted in the subject, an activation signal produced in close proximity to the subject, and activate the programming interface in response to the activation signal so that the implantable medical device can receive the programming instructions. A proximity-based security mechanism can be a dedicated device, or can be implemented in a programmable computing device such as a smartphone or other mobile computing device.

  • Publication number: 20200305050
Abstract: Techniques for facilitating cellular or wireless fidelity access point selection are provided. In one example herein a method is provided comprising receiving, by a mobile device comprising a processor, first radio load data associated with a predicted radio load of a first channel of a first wireless device. Based on a first condition associated with the first radio load being determined to have been satisfied, the method can facilitate, by the mobile device, receiving second radio load data, indicative of a current radio load, from a second wireless device. Additionally, in response to a second condition associated with the current radio load being determined to have been satisfied, the method can utilize, by the mobile device, a second channel of the second wireless device for a communication.

  • Publication number: 20200287809
Abstract: A mobile communications device may determine whether to report information regarding operation of the mobile device on a mobile network. The determination may be based on a reporting parameter set by a network control device and received via a broadcast message from a radio access node. The mobile device may compare the value of the reporting parameter to a randomly generated number. Based on the comparison, the mobile device may determine whether or not to provide information regarding operation of the mobile device or the radio access node to the network control device. The network control device may adjust the value of the reporting parameter to control the likelihood that a mobile device will report.

  • Patent number: 10764786
Abstract: A resource upgrade predictor can be operable to receive, from a first network node device, traffic information. Based on the traffic information, the resource upgrade predictor can obtain network utilization data related to other network node devices having a similar interference characteristic (e.g., signal-to-noise ratio) to the first network node device. The resource upgrade predictor can use this network utilization data to determine a demand (e.g., demand level, demand point) at which at least a defined value related to a transmission link capacity associated with transmissions between the first network node device and the user equipment, is attained (e.g., a percentage of physical resource block loading).

  • Publication number: 20200236056
Abstract: A domain and a mobile device may exchange data via a radio access node included in a mobile network. During a time of peak demand, a data load level of the radio access node may exceed a threshold. To accommodate the peak demand, historical types and volumes of data may be used to manage a data rate related to data associated with the domain. Based on the historical information, the data rate for a mobile device, a radio access node, a range of time, or a data type may be controlled. The data rate may be managed by a network gateway, such as a gateway included in the mobile network.

  • Patent number: 10691745
Abstract: An arrangement of physical objects can be analyzed using a captured digital image of the arrangement and a reference display file database. A processing device communicatively coupled to the reference display file database receives the captured image depicting the arrangement of physical objects and accesses a reference display file from the reference display file database. The reference display file includes multi-viewpoint image data and scoring components. The processing device identifies at least some of the physical objects using the reference display file. The processing device scores each identified object for such attributes as presence, position and orientation using the scoring components from the reference display file, producing an overall score based on the scoring of each identified object. The processing device can then transmit the overall score to other systems.

  • Publication number: 20200178142
Abstract: Wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) devices that are not associated with a specific wireless carrier can be contractually operated as an extension of the specific Wi-Fi carrier. In this case, a display screen of a mobile device, that is currently communicating with the Wi-Fi device as an extension of the carrier, can display the carrier info. The display can be a result of a comparison between an internal mobile device data store and/or an external list that comprises the Wi-Fi devices that are acting as extensions of the carrier for a 5G network.

  • Patent number: 10652159
Abstract: A mobile communications system includes a transceiver and a packet subsystem server of a mobile communications network for the transceiver. The transceiver can transceive wireless signals with mobile devices in a coverage area using wireless connections to exchange data with application servers. For each wireless connection the packet subsystem server can determine weighted scores using different weights for each of direct radio measures, a packet retransmission rate of the mobile communications network, and a throughput data rate. The packet subsystem server can determine an aggregated score from the weighted scores and determine a data-rate-control decision for the wireless connection using the aggregated score. The data-rate-control decision can be outputted to a packet core handling system of the mobile communications network for controlling the data rate of data transmitted using the wireless connection.

  • Publication number: 20190373470
Abstract: Dynamic wireless link security can be used to connect a wireless computing device to a wireless network. A determination is made as to the minimum level of security required and a wireless communication channel corresponding to that level of security is selected from among multiple, available wireless communication channels with varying levels of security. At least one of the wireless communication channels is an unencrypted channel with access control, which can be used when information is already encrypted or when encryption is not needed due to low sensitivity of the information. The determination can be made with user input or by inspecting metadata in content to be sent over the wireless link.

  • Publication number: 20190361759
Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods and computer-readable media for identifying failed points in a network in real time. The system and method employ a topology database against which parsed and enhanced fault notifications are compared to identify the location of the fault notifications. The fault notifications are associated into a single event. A root cause analysis module having machine learning capabilities is used to match the single event with a predicted root cause by accessing a root cause database established with existing historic data and heuristically derived failure scenarios.
