Abstract: Methods and systems for arranging content for printing in a distributed environment are described. In one embodiment, users can maintain images or graphics in a personal imaging repository. The images or graphics can include compositions that comprise multiple images and/or graphics. An imaging service enables a user to access the images or graphics in their personal imaging repository to arrange the images or graphics on a representation of a page that is to be printed. A resultant page representation can be saved in the user's personal imaging repository or printed on one or more user-selectable printers.

Abstract: A method, system, and program product for creating a customized composition at an assembling web site, comprising the steps of: receiving a request for a single composition composed of information from a plurality of different sources; obtaining a reference to the information or retrieving the information from each of the plurality of different sources; creating the single composition by including the reference or the retrieved information into a composition; and using the single composition.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system and method for producing business cards. In some embodiments, the system and method pertain to receiving personal information to be provided on the business card, storing the personal information as at least one graphic in a personal imaging repository, receiving selection of an arrangement of the personal information on the business card, and storing the arrangement as a composition in the personal imaging repository, wherein the personal imaging repository is accessed via an imaging extension.

Abstract: In response to print job communications from an application submitting a print job, a driver arrangement provides a driver type response appropriate for any pass-through data contained in the print job. Driver receives the data making up the print job and creates an intermediate representation of the print job comprising translated nonpass-through data and untranslated data comprising buffers of pass-through data. A data handler is associated with the pass-through data, and is responsible for directing the printing of the pass-through data at the designated printer.

Abstract: A system and method for authorizing electronic messages is provided. One embodiment of the system includes message receiving logic that determines whether a received message comes from an authorized sender based on a pre-assigned token. In another embodiment, a message transmission logic configures a message with a pre-assigned token for transmission to a destination address. The present system and method allows for improved control of electronic messages.

Abstract: A computer implemented method by which a user edits and delivers a print job in a computer system, the method including providing a printing software object as a COM component for editing and delivering a print job and providing job data of the print job to the printing software object, by a print job creator, in the form of references to pages. The references to pages are used by the software printing object, to call and display the pages on a need basis. The user edits the job data of the print job based on the displayed pages and the print job is delivered for processing in accordance with the edited job data.

Abstract: A method, program product and system for integrating user specific output options into an upload for a network service, the method comprising: obtaining information regarding user specific output options from an source that is not a part of the network service; and, incorporating the user specific output options into user interface data to be uploaded from a network service to a network service agent of the user. Another embodiment provides an implementation at the client side.

Abstract: Document production. The present invention arose from a need to deliver a document to a computing device as a server and to allow the server to produce the document without requiring user interaction. In various embodiments a document to be produced is received. A production application responsible for producing the document is initated. Calls from the production application to document production functions are caused to be redirected to proxy document production functions. The production is then instructed to produce the document.

Document creation, manipulition, editing, and output are provided by the present invention. Document design and image data are associated with the originating user. Generic access instructions cause associated document data to be retrieved or stored in accordance with the present invention. Multiple documents and output devices may be employed to accomplish the requesting needs. Further, interactive graphical printing configuration and monitoring may be utilized.

Abstract: The method of the invention enables a procedure to handle a large data file, wherein the procedure has a fixed, limited allocation of memory that is less than the size of the data file. The method segments the large data file into one or more subfiles, wherein each subfile is of a datasize that does not exceed the limited allocation. Thereafter, the method sequentially activates the procedure to operate upon each subfile, until all subfiles have been processed.

Abstract: A method and systems for saving a facsimile message to a personal image repository as a facsimile image in a format compatible with multiple computer operating systems for use with an identity-based imaging system.

Abstract: A computing system that includes a personal computer and a printer is described. The personal computer allows a user to select a document to be printed and to download Web content provided by the printer. The Web content enables the personal computer to print the document in response to user input. The Web content further enables the personal computer to detect if the printer encounters an alert condition while printing the document. In response to detecting the alert condition, the computer displays a hyperlink. Selecting the hyperlink initiates a performance of the computer of a specified function for assisting the user in resolving the alert condition. The administrator can define the hyperlinks.

Abstract: A computer automatically selects a device, such as a printer, over a network for the computer to use without a user having to provide the network address of the device. The computer identifies a group of devices connected to a network that meet certain pre-determined criteria. The computer then selects the device from this group that has the lowest uptime. This device is assumed to be the device the user wishes to configure their computer to use. After the device is selected, the computer then can operate to configure itself to use the device.

Abstract: A computing system that includes a client computer and a group of server computers is described. The group of server computers includes a server computer that can provide a program of instruction to the client computer. The program of instruction enables the client computer to select images and to create a composite image from the selected images.

Abstract: A client-server system is described. The system includes a group of Web sites that provide Web resources to clients. The resources can communicate with a common interface in order to access a user's documents when the user is actively making use of the resource. The system further includes a Web site that can deliver a Web page to a client. The Web page provides links and other information regarding the group of Web sites.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for generating a print job from a device driver interface command stream (command stream) is described. The command stream describes multiple collated copies of a document but is in an undifferentiated form. The print job that is generated includes print data that describes only a single copy of the document and a command that indicates the number of printed copies that are to be printed.

Abstract: One or more printers on a network are grouped together to form a printer group. A printer group server contains a database of the printer groups on the network. The printer group database includes a list of printers assigned to each printer group in the database. The printer group server communicates with a printer group client and a print server. The printer group client subscribes to one or more of the printer groups. The printer group client resides on a print client device and manages a set of print queues on the print client device. Each printer queue represents one of the printers in the printer groups to which the printer group client subscribes. A printer group is updated by making changes to the printers in the printer group and updating the printer group database to reflect the changes. A change in the printer group database initiates a change in the print queues managed by the printer group client for printer group clients that subscribe to the updated printer group.

Abstract: A printing system that includes a computer and a printer is described. A user can interact with the computer to submit a print job that describes a document to the printer. The user can also request that a message be automatically transmitted when certain conditions exist, the conditions may include the document meets at least one criterion and the printer encounters an event while processing the print job.
