  • Patent number: 5321060
Abstract: A powder composition of iron-based powder particles to which is bonded a polymeric material is prepared by making a dry admixture of the iron-based particles and particles of the polymer, wetting the admixture with a solvent for the polymeric material, and removing the solvent to leave a flowable powder composition. The powder compositions can be compression molded, generally at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the polymer, to form magnetic core components.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 12, 1993
Date of Patent: June 14, 1994
    Assignee: Hoeganaes Corporation
    Inventors: Christopher Oliver, Shelton Clisby
