  • Publication number: 20220012378
Abstract: A design verification system includes a CAD system, a CAE system and an optimization determination system. The CAD system is configured to read in a CAD model and a parameter file, update the CAD model based on the parameter file, and convert the updated CAD model into a neutral file for output. The CAE system is configured to read in the neutral file, perform a pre-processing operation and an analysis solving operation on the neutral file, and output a corresponding analysis result. The optimization determination system is configured to determine whether an optimized loop converges based on the analysis result.

  • Patent number: 6484970
Abstract: A ballistic shield containment system for preventing fragments expelled from an engine assembly from penetrating the casing of an adjacently disposed engine is provided. In a turboprop engine assembly having two power sections connected through a combining gearbox to a single propeller shaft, it is imperative that failure of the rotor disks in one engine not cause failure of the remaining engine. A substantially rectangular shaped panel member is supported at approximately the mid-point between the power sections by a support truss system extending from the panel to a space frame. The space frame is supported by a separate truss system connected to fixed bulkhead. The panel includes reinforcing ribs to prevent fragment penetration and excessive deformation. Each of the truss members is attached at either end to a spherical bearing capable of transmitting force loads while preventing transmission of moment loads.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 22, 2001
Date of Patent: November 26, 2002
    Assignee: Honeywell International, Inc.

  • Patent number: 6409473
Abstract: An assembly comprising a ceramic vane with a metal housing cast around the ends of the vane. The ceramic vane has dovetailed shaped grooves along its edges that extend from the vane's leading edge to its trailing edge. The housing is comprised of two spaced apart walls each having dovetailed protrusions for mating with the dovetail grooves in the vanes's edges. Upon the casting of the walls to the vane at least one surface of each dovetail groove comes in contact with at least one surface of the dovetail protrusion. A crushable coating is disposed between the vane's edges and the dovetail protrusions.
