    Abstract: In one of the exemplary embodiments of the disclosure, a method of controlling through a cover of a mobile electronic device would include not limited to detecting, by the mobile electronic device, for a first event and a device triggering event; displaying, through openings of the cover on the touch screen, a first image; replacing the first image with a second image that corresponds to the first event in response to the first event being detected; displaying, through the openings of the cover on the touch screen, a third image corresponding to the device triggering event while the first image or the second image is still being displayed; and performing a function corresponding to the device triggering event in response to a touch input on third image being detected by the touch screen through the cover.

    Abstract: A method for updating a page of an electronic device is provided. The page includes a first row and a second row. Each of the first row and the second row includes one or two tiles. Each tile comprises a picture. The method comprises the following steps. After an update that results in insertion of a plurality of new tiles into the page occurs, three new tiles of the plurality of new tiles are displayed by using either a first tile layout or a second tile layout in a third row and a fourth row. The number of tiles in the third row is one and the number of tiles in the fourth row is two in the first tile layout. The number of tiles in the third row is two and the number of tiles in the fourth row is one in the second tile layout.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for operating a portable device. The portable device comprises a touch screen displaying a plurality of objects. The method comprises steps of receiving a touch signal through a contacted location on the touch screen to select one of the objects corresponding to the contacted location, wherein the touch signal is correspondent with a continued pressing motion and a dragging motion following the continued pressing motion on the touch screen. According to the continued pressing motion, at least a button corresponding to an operating function is displayed on the touch screen. When the dragging motion is towards to the button corresponding to the operating function, the operating function is executed on the selected object.
