Patent number: 11324899Abstract: A nebulizer with orientation independent operation is provided. The nebulizer includes an outer tube, an inner tube provided in the outer tube, and a mesh structure disposed above an end of the outer tube. A first channel, a main channel, and a second channel are formed between the outer tube and the inner tube. When in use, capillary force is created in the main channel, such that a liquid contained in the inner tube can be transported sequentially through the second channel, the main channel, and the first channel to the mesh structure. The liquid is nebulized and dispersed into the air through vibrations of the mesh structure actuated by an annular vibration source.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2018Date of Patent: May 10, 2022Assignee: National Taiwan UniversityInventors: Chih-Chieh Chen, Sheng-Hsiu Huang, Chih-Wei Lin, Yu-Mei Kuo, Wei-Ren Ke

Publication number: 20190321008Abstract: A size-selective sampler includes: a base body having a receiving space and a concave surface curved toward the receiving space, wherein the concave surface has opposite first and second sides; an inlet port formed on the first side of the concave surface and communicating with the receiving space; and an outlet port formed on the second side of the concave surface and communicating with the receiving space. The inlet port has a length of at least 20 mm along the first side of the concave surface so as to reduce penetration of particles in an air flow. Further, the particle penetration curve is roughly equal to the ISO curve.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2018Publication date: October 24, 2019Inventors: Sheng-Hsiu Huang, Ting-Ju Chen, Yu-Mei Kuo, Chih-Wei Lin, Chih-Chieh Chen

Patent number: 8038777Abstract: An air sterilization device with low aerosol bounce includes an air conditioning pipe, a porous filter media, and a UV light generator. This porous filter media, it is secured on the fixing portion. This porous filter media has many irregularly distributed channels. The channel is coated with a coating layer having a thickness between 10 ?m to 1000 ?m sticking aerosols for avoiding bounce effect. The UV light generator can emit UV light to kill biological aerosols. It is suitable for long-term usage. So, the bounce effect of aerosols can be significantly reduced. The maintenance cost is low. The sterilization effect is excellent. Plus, the flow rate of the air conditioning system remains high.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2008Date of Patent: October 18, 2011Assignee: Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Council of Labor Affairs, Executive YuanInventors: Chane-Yu Lai, Po-Chen Hung, Sheng-Hsiu Huang, Yu-Fang Ho, Cheng-Ping Chang, Tung-Sheng Shih, Tai-Shan Yu, Chi-yu Chuang

Patent number: 7377187Abstract: An aerosol size-selective impactor for reducing particle bounce includes a main structure, a buffering layer, and a dehydration preventing layer. This main structure with an inlet and an outlet has a central channel and a receiving cavity. There are many nozzles in the inlet. The buffering layer is filled in the receiving cavity. The dehydration preventing layer is coated on the buffering layer for reducing the dehydration of water contained in the buffering layer. So, this invention utilizes the design of the receiving cavity to receive both layers. Its accuracy is high. Its sampling time lasts longer. It can endure vibrations. This invention can yield the particle bounce effect with lower cost. And, its application scope is wide.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2005Date of Patent: May 27, 2008Assignee: Chung Shan Medical UniversityInventors: Chane-Yu Lai, Sheng-Hsiu Huang, Jia-Yun Lin, Chih-Chieh Chen

Patent number: 6151970Abstract: A virtual cyclone sampler of a hollow rectangular container is provided with an arcuate surface by chamfering an edge thereof. The virtual cyclone sampler is further provided with two guide slots which are located at junctions of the arcuate surface and two adjacent planes sharing the chamfered edge. The guide slots are intended to guide gas or airborne particles to flow into or out of the container. Two virtual cyclone samplers may be connected in symmetry to form a composite virtual cyclone sampler.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1999Date of Patent: November 28, 2000Assignee: Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Council of Labor Affairs, Executive YuanInventors: Tung-Sheng Shih, Chih-Chieh Chen, Sheng-Hsiu Huang
