Patent number: 12677205Abstract: A legitimate radio access network node may determine fake base station barring criteria that may be transmitted to a user equipment in a fake base station barring configuration. The user equipment may analyze information or signal characteristics corresponding to a signal associated with another node with respect to criteria contained in the fake base station barring configuration. The barring criteria may include a signal strength threshold or a timing advance threshold. If the analyzed information or signal characteristics satisfy barring criteria contained in the barring configuration, the user equipment may determine that the other node is a fake base station and may avoid selecting, or accessing, the other node. The user equipment may flush radio resource control configuration information corresponding to the fake base station. The user equipment may select or access a next-best node based on the barring criteria being satisfied with respect to the determined fake based station.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2023Date of Patent: July 7, 2026Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Ali Esswie, Sheng Sun, Ibrahim Abu Alhaol, Gwenael Poitau

Patent number: 12641425Abstract: The technology described herein is directed towards rights management and integrity assurance of data for reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (metasurfaces), such as quality of experience data metrics and tile controller configuration data for configuring metasurfaces, including configurations based on artificial intelligence. Incoming signals impinging on the metasurface corresponding to rights-managed data are reflected by the metasurface as distorted signals, while authentication for access to this data is pending. An identity and access management system can be used for authentication. If access is granted, the metasurface is controlled to transmit non-distorted signals to the authenticated receiver. If access is denied, the metasurface is controlled to absorb the incoming signals. Further, information related to rights-managed data access can be recorded as a transaction in a decentralized block chain network.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2024Date of Patent: May 26, 2026Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Tejinder Singh, Sheng Sun, Raja Neogi

Patent number: 12598062Abstract: A method of quantum key distribution making use of 2-qubit entanglement, by which one entangled qubit is sent from an operator O to Alice and the other entangled qubit is sent from operator O to Bob, making for key-sharing among three parties (multi-user quantum key distribution, i.e. MU QKD). Alice and Bob each measures a respective sequence of qubits randomly along either one of two states, records the measurements in a respective list, and encodes the bits in an encoded list. The encoded lists are sent to operator O for entanglement to be verified with the CHSH inequality. Bob's verified list is sent to Alice and vice-versa, allowing Alice and Bob to further verify correlation. Non-entangled bits are rejected until Alice and Bob have a similar key, being a reconciled quantum-based key as sought.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2023Date of Patent: April 7, 2026Assignee: HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CANADA CO., LTD.Inventors: Wen Tong, Sheng Sun

Publication number: 20250344066Abstract: The technology described herein is directed towards monitoring path integrity of a wireless communications path between authorized entities, in which a reconfigurable intelligent surface is part of the signal path between a base station and a user equipment. In one example, an eavesdropping entity intercepts signals to and/or from a base station and user equipment via a reconfigurable intelligent surface, and redirects the intercepted signals to the intended receivers to continue communications. The change in the path from the redirected signals can be detected, e.g., via actual angle of arrival data that does not match expected angle of arrival data. The reconfigurable intelligent surface includes a delay detection network that detects impedance changes corresponding to differential phase changes among unit cells of the reconfigurable intelligent surface, which relates to the actual angle of arrival. In one implementation, generative adversarial network models are used in the monitoring of the signal path.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2024Publication date: November 6, 2025Inventors: Sheng Sun, Tejinder Singh, Raja Neogi

Publication number: 20250343574Abstract: The technology described herein is directed towards using time of flight data to validate path integrity of a wireless communications path between authorized entities, in which a reconfigurable intelligent surface is part of the signal path between a base station and a user equipment, and using signal strength data for evaluating whether the path is compromised. In one example, an eavesdropping entity can tap into part of the signals to and/or from a base station and user equipment via a reconfigurable intelligent surface. As part of monitoring for an eavesdropper, the path is validated based on the time of flight data, and the measured signal strength is evaluated with respect to the expected signal strength. A drop in the expected signal strength indicates a potential eavesdropper. In one implementation, generative adversarial network models are used in the monitoring of the signal path.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2024Publication date: November 6, 2025Inventors: Sheng Sun, Tejinder Singh, Raja Neogi

Publication number: 20250344196Abstract: Methods, devices and systems for allocating spectrum in a wireless local area network. A bit representation of the availability or unavailability of a plurality of sub-bands of a portion of frequency spectrum is generated and included in a physical layer protocol data unit, which is transmitted to a target station to allocate resource units within the portion of frequency spectrum for use by the target station. The sub-bands may be 20 MHz spectrum sub-bands for large-size resource units, or the portion of frequency spectrum may be a single 20 MHZ band sub-divided into multiple sub-bands for allocating small-size resource units. A station that receives the data unit may decode the bit representation and use the allocated resource units to communicate over the wireless local area network.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2025Publication date: November 6, 2025Inventors: Yan XIN, Sheng SUN, Jung Hoon SUH, Osama ABOUL-MAGD

Publication number: 20250193676Abstract: Network computing equipment may receive one or more radio parameter measurement reports generated by one or more user equipment. A report may comprise radio parameter values measured by user equipment corresponding to signals transmitted by a radio access network node and time information corresponding to the report. The computing equipment may perform temporal analysis based on time information corresponding to one or more reports and may generate a temporal graph based on the time information. Edges of the temporal graph may correspond to connection activity of user equipment that generated the reports with respect to one or more radio access network nodes. The edges may be ranked using a graph-based model and optimally combined with anomaly scores, determined based on the measured radio parameter values, into combined anomaly scores that may be compared to a criterion to determine that a radio access network node is a fake base station.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2023Publication date: June 12, 2025Inventors: Sheng Sun, Ibrahim Abu Alhaol, Gwenael Poitau, Ali Esswie, Morris Repeta

Publication number: 20250181776Abstract: A distributed ledger for vehicle transactions is provided. Also provided is a method of validating vehicle transactions, a method of obtaining a consensus on vehicle transactions, a method of entering data into a distributed ledger and a method of logging vehicle transactions. For each transaction of vehicle transactions, an agreement on a timestamp of the transaction is obtained to form a set of agreed transactions. For the ordered group of the agreed transactions, a consensus on a validity of the group of agreed transactions is obtained. The methods and systems of the present disclosure are specifically designed to address the consensus problem in the context of V2X but may also serve to reach consensus in other contexts. Furthermore, it enables reaching consensus with low latency and high throughput, and dynamic membership changes. It also requires limited (less) memory use to store consensus results.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2025Publication date: June 5, 2025Applicants: HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CANADA CO., LTD., The Governing Council of the University of TorontoInventors: Gengrui ZHANG, Hans-Arno JACOBSEN, Sheng SUN
