  • Publication number: 20070095180
Abstract: A method for cutting a DWDM filter from a substrate is disclosed, including a two-step process having an initial cutting step and a subsequent cutting step. The initial cutting step forms a slot on a substrate according to size requirement of a finished filter product. The slot has a width larger than the thickness of a cutter employed to perform cutting operation on the substrate. The subsequent cutting step, taken in the slot, completely cuts through the remaining thickness of the substrate to separate the filter from the substrate. The two-phase cutting process avoids corner breaking caused by direct contact between the cutter and the coating layers of the substrate.

Abstract: A cutting method for DWDM filters includes a two-phase cutting process comprised of three steps. Step one is to form a slot in a substrate according to the size requirement of a finished product. The slot has a width larger than the thickness of a cutter that is used to perform cutting. Step 2 is to form coatings on the substrate and step 3 is to completely cut off a filter from the substrate at a center point of the slot. The two-phase cutting process avoids corner breaking caused by direct contact between the cutter and the coating layers of the filter.

  • Patent number: 7152379
Abstract: A two-ply flooring plank is disclosed having two layers or “plies” with a bottom layer having a grain that runs generally transverse to a top layer (i.e., “cross-ply”) to provide dimensional stability to the plank. The bottom layer includes a number of strips secured to the bottom of the top layer. The bottom layer strips are also placed with gaps between the individual strips of the second layer to allow flexibility of the flooring plank, which allows the flooring to more easily conform to irregularities in a subfloor upon which the flooring plank is mounted.

  • Publication number: 20030027169
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel one-well assay which couples a conventional polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification step to a single nucleotide primer extension step for the determination of nucleotide sequence variations in the genotyping of single nucleotide polymorphisms and other DNA variations detected by primer extension methods. A PCR amplification step, a phosphatase digestion step (or a molecular weight-selective filter step), and a primer extension step are consecutively performed in the same well plate followed by electrospray mass spectrometry detection of the single nucleotide polymorphism bases. Alternative one-well assays which utilize exonuclease I or &lgr;-exonuclease in addition to the phosphatase digestion step are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6490478
Abstract: A system and method based on electrocardiogram (ECG) complexity analysis for real-time detecting shockable ventricular fibrillation (VF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT), and discriminating them from non-shockable tachyarrhythmia (e.g. supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and atrial fibrillation (AF)) and high-frequency noise. In the disclosed invention, complexity measure CM (0 to 100), quantitatively characterizing the complexity nature of the non-linear dynamics underlying cardiac arrhythmia, is extracted from the sensed patient ECG signal using ECG complexity analysis. From the calculated complexity measure, by three thresholds (low complexity threshold (LCT), mediate complexity threshold (MCT), and high complexity threshold (HCT)), different kinds of tachyarrhythmia (i.e.

  • Patent number: 6480734
Abstract: A cardiac monitor is provided that monitors the condition of the heart of a cardiac patient and generates signals indicating one of several conditions, such as supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation. In order to generate these signals, the ECG from the patient is analyzed to determine a cardiac interval and heart rate, as well as a waveform factor and a waveform factor irregularity. The waveform factor is derived from the average of the ECG amplitudes during a cardiac interval and the peak value of the ECG during the same interval. Preferably, a running average is calculated over several intervals. This waveform factor is then used to detect shockable ventricular arrhythmia. The waveform factor irregularity is indicative of the variability of the waveform factor and is used to differentiate between ventricular tachycardia and ventricular defibrillation.
