Starting from existing time curves of a target variable and optionally from further auxiliary variables, an RCGAN according to the invention is able to calculate the probability distribution of future values of the target variable and to predict the future values of the target variable therefrom. The predicted future values of the target variable can be fed back to the technical system in which the method according to the invention is used so that the latter can adjust parameters on the basis of the obtained findings. The prediction of the filling amount of cylinders of an internal combustion engine is used here as a specific technical application.
