  • Publication number: 20030055918
Abstract: Based upon given demands, nodes, spans, speed hierarchy, equipment, weights, preferences and constraints, the apparatus and method disclosed creates an optimized network configuration by separating high degree of separation demands and employing functional analysis for equipment selection and functional analysis for demand routing.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 14, 2001
    Publication date: March 20, 2003
Inventors: Sheri L. Zimmel, Kristopher E. Glover, Anna A. Maravina, Mark W. Lewis, Daniel P. Schmidt
  • Publication number: 20030051007
Abstract: Based upon given demands, nodes, spans, speed hierarchy, equipment, weights, preferences and constraints, the apparatus and method disclosed creates an optimized network configuration by separating low degree of separation demands and employing functional analysis for equipment selection and functional analysis for demand routing. The method includes picking a cycle to place equipment on and routing demands on the cycle.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20030046378
Abstract: An automatic router for new demands on an existing network topology with given network capacities which first transforms the existing network topology into a Capacity Network, to which mathematical techniques and heuristics techniques can be applied. Subsets of the given unrouted new demands using a min-cost flow technique are solved. Optionally, an overlay network may be built to accommodate any new demands which cannot be placed on the existing network.

  • Publication number: 20030035379
Abstract: Based upon given demands, nodes, spans, speed hierarchy, equipment, weights, preferences, and constraints, the apparatus and method disclosed creates an optimized network configuration by (1) separating demands into groups based on their shortest path and the maximum cycle size, (2) routing each demand group, and (3) re-routing the demands on rings that exceed the Cost Threshold when cost effective. Common elements in routing demands in the groups are functional analysis for equipment selection and functional analysis for demand routing.

  • Publication number: 20030023706
Abstract: Based upon given demands, nodes, spans, speed hierarchy, equipment, weights, preferences, and constraints, the apparatus and method disclosed creates an optimized network configuration by re-routing demands assigned to low utilization rings based upon cost.
