  • Publication number: 20240147680
Abstract: There is disclosed a conductive concrete structure for electromagnetic shielding comprising a first planar surface; a metal mesh positioned on a first face of the first planar surface; and cast concrete positioned on or around the metal mesh. There is also disclosed a method of assembling a conductive concrete structure for electromagnetic shielding. The method comprises positioning a metal mesh comprising a plurality of metal wires on a first planar surface and casting concrete on the metal mesh.

  • Publication number: 20230358030
Abstract: In some implementations, a conductive concrete composition for providing improved shielding against electromagnetic radiation comprises cement, one or more supplementary materials, aggregates, one or more carbon products, and fibers. In some implementations, the composition comprises between about 5% and about 40% by weight of cement, between about 1% and about 20% by weight of one or more supplementary materials, between about 5% and about 80% by weight of aggregates, between about 1% and about 40% by weight of one or more carbon products, and between about 1% and about 10% by weight of fibers. In some embodiments, the one or more supplementary materials comprises ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), the one or more carbon products comprises graphite, and the fibers comprise steel fibers. The aggregates can include normal weight, lightweight, and/or fine aggregates.

  • Publication number: 20050120644
Abstract: A precast post-tensioned segmental pole system capable of supporting a load is provided. The pole system includes a plurality of pole segments that use connectors and strands to anchor them together. The strands extend within a cavity formed in the pole segments and are external to the wall structure of the pole segments. The strands may be coupled between both of the pole segments, or be anchored to a connector. The connector includes an upper piece that is coupled to one pole segment, and a lower piece that is coupled to the other pole segment. Upper and lower pieces interlock with each other to join the pole segments to one another. The strands are placed in tension so that pole system is capable of withstanding forces imposed by the load.

  • Patent number: 6825444
Abstract: A heated bridge deck (20) uses electrodes (24, 26) embedded within conductive concrete and connected to a power source to remove snow and ice accumulation. A cement-based mixture containing optimal amounts of conductive materials is molded into pre-formed slabs (22) placed atop the paved surface of a bridge deck. Alternatively, the conductive concrete may be cast in place on top of an existing bridge deck. A control unit with temperature and moisture sensors may be coupled to the heated bridge deck.
